insurance information

Steve, what kind of coverage did you get with Foremost? I called them about mine through AARP and got a rate of $1100 yr! Granted it has more coverage than what I have now, but I don't know if I really need THAT much...

I have had Geico for 10 years now and they have
been wonderful to us. In fact when I just called
them about the bike being converted they lowered
my insurance premium $4.00 per month.. think about it
if your on 2 wheels and the bike falls over on that hot
pavement. there is a $2,000.00 claim. Insurance company's
are catching on real fast that triking is helping them.

Anyways GEICO stands for Government Employee Insurance
Company. and if you are in the Military Service you get one heck
of a discount. If you call for a Quote give them this
Promo Code. Might help you... # 59595 Good Luck!

They Also brought my bike value UP $14,000.00 on top of
what it is worth now. I have FULL coverage for my trailer
my goodies and flat bed towing. Geico will not pay for the
install fee it took to add the trike kit. about $1,500 I can
live with that.

I would suggest you make sure you will still have coverage when you Trike it. I called Harley Davidson to check what I could expect and if I would have any problems, all he told me was my carrier(Foremost) would just treat it as a accessory. When I had Trike completed I called back and the guy asked me what kind of kit I had, when I told him Hannigan he said thats good cause thats one of the kits Foremost covers. I guess foremost don't cover all kits, which the first person never told me. Also it should'nt increase my policy because they feel 3 wheels are alot safer then the two. Now this may vary from State to State so it's best to check with your agent.

Yes they know it is a Hannigan. They even have the
VIN Number that Hannigan Supply's for it.

I just took care of all that this week. It
is fully covered as a trike now.

They absolutely have no problem for the bike
being converted.

Thanks,
Jeff

Insuring it as a trike or insuring it as a Bike with a TRIKE accessory are 2 different things. Like saying I have a a bike with a piece attached to it. if the bike gets totaled and the piece does not they pay for your bike value. YES it is true friend had it happen when his trike rolled away and hit a tree. they gave him $9,000 for the bike and said the trike accessory was fine just take it off and put it on another bike. Like it was a trunk or a windshield.. Bike was insured thu Dairyland

When I insured the trike, I went to State Farm (who insured my previous Harley) and told them I wanted full replacement value coverage. I gave them the invoices to validate the original value and the agent took photos to show what it looks like.

No problems! They insured it as a motorcycle with accessories and issued a policy stating full replacement value coverage for a total loss and/or guaranteed repair to full original condition subject to deductibles.

I have found over the years, that dealing with an agent that you can trust and will be on your side, is more important than the company itself.

We use progressive and when we changed from bike to trike, they had no problem with it. They knew exactly what I was talking about. We've had no claims so don't know how they deal with that. We also have our RV through progressive but it had to be on a seperate policy. We pay 259 a year for the trike, the motorcycle trailer and the cargo trailer we haul it in.

That is exactly what I did.. :D no photos yet though. waiting on that

OK.. OK.. waving the white flag.

Just got my new insurance quote from Progressive for next year. Sicker shock. They want $750.00 for my trike now or a total of $1878.00 for all three combined.

I just hate to say this but I took Fish's advice, darn it! Yes, I called up Foremost. Yes, I am an AARP member in good standing.:(

For the same coverage with "less" (that is what I said, less) deductibles they want $391.00 for my trike or a total of $1177.00 for all three.

Nope, I don't want to hear it, shuuuuuush, stop, :drama::busted::blahblah::groan::brushspank:

Waiting on my hard copy of the quote.

P.S. Thanks Fish :goodjob:

Well thats good news, like I said I went through Foremost, and the price actually dropped below what I was paying for the 2 wheeler.
I had the same experience with Foremost, I pay less than when it was a 2 wheeler. As stated earlier, they consider a trike safer than a 2 wheeler, and even though the trike is worth more, being safer, more than offsets the extra value as a trike.

Well I guess it is different here in Conn.
Just went to check to see if I can get my Trike insurance reduced from the $519.00 I am now paying to the $130.00 people tell me they pay.( Trike is valued thru them now at $18,000 replacement value stated ) If I drop it from Progressive, and try to go back later they will not list it for true value only as a 1997 Goldwing ($5,400) . 9 right now i am grandfathered in at $17,000) Tried raising my deductible to $1,000 from $500. Saves me $16.00 a year. Tried goring to Foremost, they won't let me add a stated value just add that it is a trike and that I get $3,000 accessory insurance so my trike would be valued at $8,000. Progressive will only let you add a stated value to a Brand new Trike .
Are you people with the real low rates doing it over the internet or thru an agent?

My quote with AARP Foremost was first through the internet.
You fill in info for the quote( you can make it the same as what you have or raise or lower coverages).
Then when it comes back, you decide if you want to go ahead with it.
You call an 800 number(for me it was an office in Michigan, I'm in Wisconsin)
The agent goes through the whole policy quote with you and ask or answer any questions you might have.
She ( in my case a female agent) then double checks the premium with the coverages you picked.
In my case the premium dropped another $12.00 from the quote.
I agreed to the policy, she signed me up and sent the policy and the billing within 4 days.

John,

I'm with State Farm and they don't write coverage in CT, but the principles of getting what you want are the same.

First, I deal only directly with an agent I trust to represent my best interests and I never take no for an answer unless it's something that's regulated by law.

The agent can find ways to do things that you cannot possibly get done by telephone of on the internet.

I told the agent I wanted FULL ACTUAL REPLACEMENT VALUE coverage. He got it done with an initial coverage value of twice what you're suggesting and for much less than you're paying now, even with just a $500 deducitble.

The only advantage I may have is that I can get by with the lowest available liability limits since I carry a seperate large excess liability umbrella policy that covers everything I own, including two houses, four vehicles and the trike.

Just as an aside, my cost for the trike insurance and the umbrella policy combined is a bit less than what you are apparently paying now.

Good luck!

John: I got my foremost insurance through my Harley Davidson agent who went direct to Foremost after checking around with other carriers, thats in N.Y.

I wonder how many trikers know about Peter Lewis, the president of Progressive Insurance company? He is a LEFT Wing "progressive"(pardon the pun) wing nut in the mold of Geo. Soros, Stalin and Fidel Castro. If you doubt it, Google Peter Lewis. He gives "huge" amounts of money to FAR LEFT causes.

Trike insurance

Checked with my State Farm agent today, about insurance on trike.

He said no go, they don't do that in Mississippi. They talked to a underwriter.

Have a 1 ton dodge, Blazer Taurus sho, Saab 9000CD, And Yamaha road star 1700 insured.

So need to start looking, have paid for trike kit in full when i ordered it.

Have been with State Farm since 1969, yes not a typo 1969.

His secretary called me :mad::mad:

Sounds as if you need to get a new agent, maybe even new company.
We pay 360.00 annually for my wife's 2012 Triglide and 162.00 for my 2010 Road king with Allstate.
