    OOPS...my bad. EDITED POST.....

If memory serves me. Loosening the rear tank bolt, lifting the tank to get the clearance, and your access is right there. I can't recall removing the entire tank. Usually just put something underneath to hold it up.

Time consuming, yes, PIA, not really......

80,000 miles on that Valkyrie in a years time so I changed the air cleaner multiple times.

Maintence seems more or less the same.
A PIA to take care of some normally simple items.
Air filter changes are a big PIA on both models.
    The IS alot more electronics.
    My bike is a Standard.
Fairly easy on most normal maintence.
The carbs werent an issue for me.
I prefere a carbed bike to be honest.
    More owner adjustabitily.

The reason the filter is all tucked up under that cowling is to keep road debris from hitting it and, possibly, puncturing it. Not a good scenario when you are heading down the highway. It wouldn't be a lot of fun trying to locate a bike shop on a Sunday afternoon ((or any day for that matter)) that's 1)OPEN and 2)has a filter to fit.

Remove the front cover stuff and do it cleanly.
Or mop up oil coming out of the filter all over the tupperware latter.
The filter on my bikes tucked uo and more inside the wrap around piece then out of it.
Might not be the same on all trikes but on mine would have resulted in an oily mess.

Robert Doerr seats is under a two hour ride from Delray Beach. That's not even a day trip. Here's the web site in case you happened to have looked up the wrong place as there is a similar shop in Texas.......

He seems to be the logical solution to the seat issue.
I took the seat off yesterday while I was playing around.
I cant see any reason it cant have the high back removes and recovered.
The speakers arm rests and even the small trunk can go too.

But theres a new rub, or actually leak to take care of.
The right side CV joint and the axle is covered with goop<rear end fluid>along with the rear end its self all gooped up.........sigh.
I knew things were to good to go right for long............sigh.

Well, contrary to what you posted about the cleaning of your bikes. I am extremely anal about the upkeep and cleanliness of any of my vehicles. When clean, all the time, it makes it a LOT easier to spot possible trouble. Leaks, oozing that sort of thing.

Obviously, you aren't happy with this machine. Instead of going to the expense and trouble of a full customization, perhaps you would be much better off selling it as is and then spending your time actually shopping around seriously for one that actually fits your needs.

I will look into this guy for sure.
I took the seat off partially yesterday along with all the other stuff I tried to do.
I cant see reapolstering it as being to difficult.
The speakers and trunk can go too if need be.

Before you start to do a full on custom job on your trike you may want to rethink things. You are already in a specific group of riders. Resale on one that's been customized they way you are talking about would be tough if you ever decide to sell it. Most folks that want a Goldwing trike want the trunk, rear speakers, backrest. All of the extra amenities.

There are a LOT of companies and trike designs that would likely suit you much better. Here are a few options to consider. Most have a much lower seat height and would be a LOT easier to get your leg over.

Again, shopping around and doing research is essential. Anyone that drops 20 to 30 grand ((or more)) without doing their "homework" is, frankly, making an asinine decision and will likely not be happy with their choice.

Check out some of these and even do a few online searches. I am SURE you can find a trike and a company that can make one to fit.

    Cheetah Trikes

    A Valkyrie conversion

I couldn't locate the company for this one but it IS out there.....

    The Harley Triple XXX

And a Big Wheel.......just for laughs.....

That was meant as a way for you to say what you are doing with it now.

Instead I get a comment such as this.........

I am amazed that you are still getting any responses from any of your other posts.

A direct question gets a direct answer.
It would seem we have isssues only with each other here.
I just posted the pics so that you could see what a wreck I started with
    and how it sits now.
7 months worth of work for me.
Its totally rebuilt with mostley new internals when available.
Used parts if thats all I could get.
The Valk was a project just something to keep me busy.
I was going to trike it.
Now Im doing nothing more to it or with it.
Its as done as Im going with it.
It is indeed just collecting dust now.
I may try to get rid of it in the spring for a low price.
Or just keep it for having its sake.
Ridden once a week so it doesnt go stale.
If I do end up putting it up for sale in the spring. It will be well under what it is actually worth as a toy for someone else to repaint which is all it really needs at this point.

As I said in the message I sent you. You are now on my ignore list so any posts you make are a waste of time.

I'll waste no more of my time trying to help someone that, obviously, doesn't want or appreciate it.

Thumbs up Seat Problems with Backrest

Maybe the seat off a new F6B will work. Same Chassis and frame but a single with a Pillion? Bet it would fit on any Goldwing. I have to wear a brace on my left leg and I mount from the right side and lift my inop leg over the seat. No problem for me. I love my wing '10 with an '11 CSC Cobra XL kit. Sure I'm still adding things and that's the way I want to do it. No manufacturer will please everyone but we make adjustments to compensate for that. I have ridden Honda's since the '50's and never had a problem with them. No matter where we ride I always knew that the Honda would get me back home. That's my opinion after 60 yrs of riding. Best of luck with your trike.
