I want to change the oil in my GL 1800 (motor trike conversion). How much oil does it take? I'm using synthetic. Thanks.

It will take 1 gallon (4 qts.). That should put it right on the full mark. I buy mine in 1 gallon jugs (Shell Rotela T Synthetic).

I am sure I put 3.5 litres in my 1800 motortrike.
Yes 3.5 is a bit under 4 qts with a new filter. the extra once or 2 will not hurt it.
Honda calls for 3.9 qts. in both the 1500 and the 1800.
However, like so many others, I put in the full 4 qts.
I also use Rotella T6 5-40 Synthetic Oil and a PurolatorPure One PL14610 Oil Filter. This filter is a 1/2" longer than stock.
Also, Don't forget to drain the Crankcase Breather.
A suggestion.
I've found that on my trike I get a more complete oil drain when I slightly elevate the rear by driving it up on a 2x6. I've found changing oil with my trike level, that a bit of the old oil will not drain out.
I put the old oil in empty gallon milk jugs for disposal and can see the difference if I don't elevate the rear slightly.
When I changed oil on two wheels I always put a 2x6 under the rear tire and had the bike on the sidestand. The amount of oil that came out always filled an empty one gallon milk jug.

I am new to Trike Talk and to Honda GL 1800 trikes. How do you drain the crankcase breather? Thanks
With filter 4Quarts will work just fine. I use Shell Rotella T6 Synthetic 05-40 oil. Wally World for 19 dollars a gallon jug. You may want to add a magnetic oil filler plug and don't forget a new crush ring on the plug.<br />
