It very well could be, Mike. Only time and participation will tell.
Let's get this list started for all you soon to be trikers. My recommendation is for:
Hatfield MotorSports in Muscatine, IA. Pete and Cindy Hatfield are the owners. They build the CSC Cobra, the Trike Shop HT1800. and the Champion for the Gold Wing. They also carry the Trike Shop trike kit for the Honda cruiser. You can't find better people. You may pay a little more and wait awhile longer because they won't be rushed. In the end you get a quality build.
That's my story and I''m stickin' to it.

Good idea, Mike. It might be even better if a separate sub-forum were set up for the purpose of recommending builders/installers.
I have two comments. I have seen the work of Southwest Touring on DFT kits and am highly impressed with the kit and the builder. Likewise Hannigan Motorsports does an outstanding job and stands behind it's work.
I'm in...
Blackburns trikes of Medina Ohio
D&A Motor Trike of Seguin, TX. Duke and Al do great work on Motor Trikes.

Welcome everyone and thank you so much for your participation. Just want to say that for now, we would like to avoid posting commercial links and commercial classified line ads for a couple of reasons. 1) We want this to be a community site used primarily for the enjoyment and informational value of its members and not let the commercial use get totally out of hand. I am sure you have noticed this on other sites (like GWRRAs classifieds board). It is usually just a handful of individuals who take advantage and it seems to cause a lot of animosity. 2) In fairness to any sponsors who might choose to help support the site, we want to limit commercial links. Any individual who has a trike, bike, trailer, accessories, etc. for sale is of course more than welcome to post it for sale here.
With the number of hits we are already getting, we anticipate a need for additional hosting and staffing upgrades very soon. Building a really great site does have costs. Rather than having random ads, we thought we would connect with sponsors who are in a trike or trike related business. This should be a benefit to the sponsors and the community. Additionally, we are in the process of talking with with several of the top trike manufacturers, builders and accessory folks and will be adding the latest news, photos, etc. very soon.
We will be encouraging things like group buy discounts for our members, better access to basic technical information and support from the manufacturers and more direct input and feedback on design, safety and other pertinent issues. It should be interesting, so stay tuned!
As far as recommending a dealer that you know, have used and like, please feel free to do so. There are a number of very well qualified dealers out there who do a great job.

We are very pleased with the people we got our trike from in 2007. Maxim Motorsports in Allen Texas. We bought a new Goldwing in 2006 and had them trike it with a California Side Car. Great job, no complaints! Looks like this could be a really good website!
I hope we all continue to put in our knowledge to help each other out. The trike pictures R great. U guys have some very nice looking trikes. Have a great weekend.

Hello,
I believe that we are all in this together with trike building and sales, be our shops big or small. I've been building trikes for seven years in Port Richey and have had my share of good and bad, I have watched trike and bike shops come and go, some have changed names(for one reason or another), changed owners or lost their kit suppliers.
I believe there are some people venturing into trikes that truly want to be there and provide a product and service to the people, these are individuals with the marketing strategy who know the motorcycle riding population is aging or those who want something different.
I entered in trike building at a time when custom choppers were all the rage and a segment of the market was ignored. The very first bike I triked was a 1999 GL-1500SE in 2001 for a friend who read an ad for a trike kit that said "Easy to install", he didn't think it was easy and the installation manual was extensive:eek:. Together we installed the kit onto his Wing and he still has it and refuses to sell it.
Thank you,
Trike Lady

Retired trike builder
America's first lady trike builder.
I live in the Washington DC area and I ride a GL1800 with a CSC trike kit.
I had mine done by Dale at Openroad Outfitters in Sterling VA (between Sterling and Ashburn actually).
I posted a thankyou to him with his business info out where the pics of my bike being triked are.
It's the last pic in the series if you want his location and phone number. TrikeProcess
I can't say enough about Dale, his wife Sandy and his mechanic 'Stitch'. Best customer service I've ever run into. Not to mention just all around good people.
Neither Stitch or Dale even minded this silly little blonde (me) watching over their shoulders at times as my 'baby' got converted Can't say that about many shops!!
His willingness to go out of his way for me - and I can be a real royal pain in the butt sometimes!!! - (not to mention the taking of the pics) was just awesome!!
Dale picked up the bike and delivered it right back to me at my home!!
Several folks on GL1800 riders have used Openroad Outfitters (Dale) as well if you need other references for him.
NOTE: Since this board strips other rider boards URLs from posts.... That's GL1800 riders <-all one word, no space in between- DOT com
Again, I can't even begin to give enough Kudo's to Dale, Stitch and Sandy. They are simply the best!

I think that testimonials should be encouraged as they can be helpful in guiding folks to good shops. Hopefully we will stick with testimonials for the builders we have had good experience with because even the very best can't please everyone, every time.
We are the new stocking dealers for California side car in Michigan
give us a call, we wont let you down. over 30+ years service with Harley and Honda bikes, with a new 08 GL1800 CSC Trike on the floor for a demo ride.
