Default Motor Trike Support

In November I got tired of the rough ride my trike had started haveing for the past 10,000 miles. I put it on the lift and found the right ladder bar rubbing the frame. My trike is a 97 MT solid axel. I called the factory to ask some questions and Richard Purdy informed me on some adjustments that I could make. While making the adjustments I pulled the battery and box to access the hyme joint easier. I found that the ladder bar had cracked at the socket weld just before the Y and seporated about 1/4 inch. I took pictures sent them to MT and was ask to send both ladder bars back for evaluation. I did and had repaired bars back 3 days after they received them. My trike was out of warrenty in May 2012 and there was no charge for the repairs. That's customer service since the bars would have cost about $800.00.

Thank you MT for your great service and thanks Richard for all your information on adjusting the ladder bars.
Nice, it is rare to get such support when out of warrenty. That is something to keep in mind.

Always seems to be a tight knit group of trike people out there. Whether it's the manufacturer or the owner.....

Im still waiting to here from Richard about my trike.
I bought it used on Nov 8th. The PO never filled out the warrenty card.
I asked Richard about any warrenty for 2nd owners and even offered to pay if I had to.
I was told where the numbers on the frame and rear end would be and to send them in.
I did of the frame.
Cant get to the back of the rear end housing??? How??? where???
Richard says its not their numbers.
I took pictures of the numbers on the frame where he said they would be and of the trike.
Emailed them to him.
Im still waiting.....................going on 3+ weeks to hear from Richard.
Some customer service for me.

Im glad the took care of you and did so quckly.
In the mean time.
They act as if I dont exist......................Im screwed if something breaks Id imagine with no warrenty.....

Oooh well.

Jay what trike do you have, I bought mine used and it was a 2010 Goldwing adventure, I had minor problem of someone before me leaving he trunk light on and melted the lense cover. I wrote Motortrike to find out how much a new lense cover would be. I was told to look for the number on the trike and it might be covered by warrenty and they told me where to find it. Located number and they sent me new cover at no cost.

Got a little distracted from what I was going to say, you said you were told to look on the frame and mine was on the bottom edge of axle could not see it at first so i pulled it up on some small ramps got some cleaner as there was road grime covering the number wipe it clean and there it was.

I also have a 2010 Adventuer kit with 10433 miles at time of purchase.
Aside from a very bad sqeek from the left rear.
I have the exact same issue which was the 1st thing I wanted addresed.
Mines not only melted it doesnt have power to it.
I followed the wires to a plug on the frame and that as far as i could get.

At the moment I have no safe way of getting the trike up in the air.
I can maybe get a jack under the hitch and try to use jack stands on 4 corners.
Mine has full floor boards too.
What ramps did you use and did you put them backwards or just drive up on them??
Thats my project for today.
All Im saying is Im sure hes a busy man but hasnt exactly been helpful to me so far.
The nearest MT dealer to me is clear across the state 4-5 hour trip and none of the local wrenches near me are able to work on a trike.
I need something anything in writing at this point should something go Kaflooey.
The bike definatly would have the balance of the original warrenty at the least.
I use this trike to commute not joy ride..........

What ever your issue was.
Im sure I dont want to be in your shoes too.

Jay that is not the number they need let me get a chance and I will take pics, a ramp is not needed for a lot of people I am just a rather large guy. I only need a couple of inches to get where I needed comfortably. I do not have the floorboards so I put themin front of the trike and pulled up. I will go out and and see if I can get some pics for you and post more later. But the number is diffenently on axle though.

On a side note, I took care of everything by e-mail and never called.

They person I did business with was Brandy Russell the e-mail adress I used was info@motortrike.com

I have attached two photos one has two arrows the first arrow shows a bolt that is on the axle and the second shows the location of the number. The second picture shows the ramps I used they are low profile and since I do not have running boards I just place in front and drive on I suspect you could back it on. I don't remember where I got the ramps had them for when I had a low rider car.

Jay,

One more thing, I just want to make sure your aware the light only works when he key is on, you may already know this but I have worked in tech support before and found sometime the simplest thing is usally the problem.
Also my bulb burned out quickly due to over usage of it not being turned off.

Jay, First of all, we would like to apologize for the communication issues. We checked Mr. Purdy's email files. We show 3 emails you have sent him (including the one sent on 1/1/13). At this point, all of the emails shows he replied to with an answer to your questions. We show no "kickbacks" as undelivered as well. We are unable to fully "track" to verify if they went through completely, or perhaps were sent to your junk email folder? If you still show no records of these emails, I recommend you call in and speak with Richard directly. I'm sure he could also forward you his original replies if need be as well. Once again, we apologize for the issues, and the hassles it has created as a result.

Talking Re: Motor Trike Support

As an owner of TBMS products I can state that the customer support that Motor Trike and TBMS Stallion give to customers is the best. Jeff, Richard, Nick, and all the staff in Troup Texas go out and above to solve any problem.and also inspect to see if there are any unknown issues before returning trike to you. If the rest of automotive industry treated customers the same way there would be many less customer problems. I have ridden for more than 50 years and they are the best IMHO.

Crap happens Guys.
Alot to me lately, but thats life.
I have no problems at all with Richard, just plain miscommunication no fault of anyones.
I have no issues at all other then feeling ignored which is I feel was natural under the circumstances.
So I aplogise on my end please accept it guys.
All has been more then satisfactorly explained in this mornings email from Richard.
I have no emails in my junk folder nor spam. So where they went is beyound me.

If for any reason my email from tonight doesnt get to you.
Here is a picture of the number on the housing.
As I missunderstood from the get go what he meant when telling me the locations to look at.
From my vantage point. Getting on my back on the ground isnt easy.
The housing looks like its finnished in a crinkle black paint.
No covered as it actually is in oil.

The number is 756
But I do need a recommended facility to bring the trike to.
Winter Haven or Lake Placid which is closet, are the best for me to get to.
Im a single working guy who will have to get it somehow where ever it has to go by myself.
All the others on the west coast, 3-5 hours, not something Id want to do.
3-4 hours on the eastside or Orlando area is acceptable and doable.
Locally, unfortunatly nobody I can bring it to that Im aware of that can work on a trike unless its an HD.
Ive gotten the metric BS line down here for years.

Here is the number.
Looks like 756.
If you can guys try emailing me what I need to know to take care of the leaks.
Thanks

Jay

Also my bulb burned out quickly due to over usage of it not being turned off.

My bulb was also burned out.
I just took a hot air gun and reformed the lens well enough for it to stay in place.
Alls fine there and it was such a minor thing.
Id have never brought it up if you hadnt mentioned it..
It seems to be a very common deal for alot of folks.

I noticed that a couple of you had problems with the light being left on. My wife took our trike (2002 MT) on an over night ride and when she put stuff in the trunk the button got pushed and the light was on. She didn't notice it when she got the stuff out of the trunk and so the next morning the battery was dead. When she got home and told me what happened I went out and looked at the light. Simple fix, since the switch is in the cover I just took the two screws out and turned the cover around so the switch is in the back of the light, no way to accidentally turn it on. You have to reach under the light (not a big deal) to push the switch. If you have a MT kit you may want to turn the cover around so you don't get up one morning with a dead battery. Just passing along my thoughts.

Thanks for the advice, however on mine the light goes off if the key is in the off position, and will come back on when the key is back in the on position. So never should run down the battery, but still worth the look to keep it from being on the whole time I am riding so it does not melt the lens.

I may even look into putting in a kill swith that when the trunk is shut light power is killed. Have not look into this yet but seems do able
