A big thumbs up to Motor Trike CS and this forum in particular

Im brand new to the trike world.
Though not new to motorcycling in general.
Ive been riding for over 35 years.
With biking as my main form of transportation.
I just want to give this forum in particular a big thumbs up ThumbUp for giving me a place to ask questions and get real honest answers from most of you here to what for me have been problem areas.

As with any forum we all cant always get along, but you try to as best you can.
Some are just not going to like me and see me as whinning.
Those people dont know me or my personal issues, thats their loss.

This place had to be right or wrong my main communication portal between Motor Trike and myself.
For whatever reason I have been able to send Motor Trike email.
But I dont receive theirs on my home system???
Im not one to call over and over on the phone, thats just not how Im built..

Thankfully Motor Trike read my Trike Talk posts and communicated with me here by PM.
I found out that they read and communicate with customers here every day.
So do the other trike sponsors.
You just dont get that anywhere else.
Thats what makes TrikeTalk a great forum.

Motor Trike has bent over backwards and has been unbelievably helpful with my particular problem since buying this trike..

Im a single guy and Ill say it right out here.
Handicapped.
I have no real way of traveling to have my bike serviced if it required being left overnight at any of Motor Trikes official dealerships.
None of which are located less then a 2+ hour ride from me.
I didnt want to have to ride the trike and take any chances of getting stuck or possibly making matters worse.
I made a ton of calls locally to individual shops in my general area and got every excuse known to man as to why "We" dont work on trikes.

Motor Trike and Richard went the extra mile for me.
I was able to find a local shop to take care of my issues.
Motor Trike then made arrangements on my behalf to have the work covered under the warranty.
Ive never in 35+ years had a company do something of this nature for me.
I was a CS rep for Toys R Us in my past and their are limits as to what one can do sometimes.

So again in closing this post.
Thank You Richard, you I guess will be the 1st to know what Ed and Dave end up doing for the repairs of my trike.
I dropped it off this morning, they then gave me a ride home.
I guess the trike will be done sometime by the middle of the week.

To the rest of Motor Trikes CS staff.
A big thanks to you too persons unknown.

And lastly but in a large way to Zook and TrikeTalk.com.
For giving me a place to air my dirty laundry.

Re: A big thumbs up to Motor Trike CS and this forum in particular

Great to hear how Motor Trike stands behind their product. It sounds to me that they do this not to create good will or attract future business, but simply because it is the right thing to do.

I had the same experience with Kliktronic when I had some minor issues with the electronic shifter on my trike. They remedied my concerns immediatly and to my complete satisfaction.

Kudos to Motor Trike!!!!

Re: A big thumbs up to Motor Trike CS and this forum in particular

Every time I call motortrike with a problem they send me the parts or tell me how to repair any problem I have had. I get better service from them than I do with honda!!

Re: A big thumbs up to Motor Trike CS and this forum in particular

I have to toss my hat in this ring also. The folks at Motor Trike have always treated me very well. At least they have when the communication lines are working. I don't know why but several of us have mentioned not getting email responses to our questions but when we call they pull them up from their archives. :Coffee::Coffee:

This past week I ended up calling because I hadn't gotten a response. Sure enough Richard pulled it up and even read it to me. His answer was exactly what I needed to hear. ThumbUp I even checked the spam and junk mail folders to see if his email had found it's way there. NOPE... Just one of the mysteries I guess...

I'd suggest you give them a quick call if you haven't gotten an answer in a few days just to make sure they did get the question at least. Sometimes emails end up in cyber land. I got a couple from my brother two weeks ago that had been bouncing around out there for over a month. GO FIGURE.....:Shrug::Shrug:

Re: A big thumbs up to Motor Trike CS and this forum in particular

Or just Private Message them here on the forum. They are here every day and I know for a fact they respond quickly.

Re: A big thumbs up to Motor Trike CS and this forum in particular

Im just not one to call folks too often at their place of work to complain.
All has been resolved in my case.
Now its up to the repair shop.

I did find a shop that had a lift and a person who has the knowlegde to work on an IRS system.
None of the "bike" shops in my area had a lift or would even work on an IRS ride.
It takes more then just a bike shop it seems to be able to work on trikes.
I gave Richard his name and phone number and Richard called the shop the next day to offer his help and assistence if needed.
For that I thank him.

I dropped the trike off yesterday.
The shop will call me in the middle of the week or so.
Hopefully the repairs can me made without any difficulties.

For me its back to my RoadStar for a few days...............

Re: A big thumbs up to Motor Trike CS and this forum in particular

This shop does or did primarly restoration work on V-Twins.
I had some work done at this shop about 6,7 years ago when I had an HD.
In 05 I bought my Yamaha.
Bring it to them for something piddling.
They didnt want to take it on.

I brought my Valk rim there to have a CT mounted in 2010
I honestly put the place out of my mind.
I stopped in there last week.
Lo and behold not only do they now work on everything.
They are a dealer for some HD based trike company Im not aware of.
So they have a proper lift, and a mechanic who knows IRS systems.
Ed and Dave a father and son couldnt have been nicer.
They are happy to do and have the work.
Richard calls them and offers his help and advise if needed.
I dropped off the trike yesterday morning.
Ed gave me a ride home.
My trike should be ready some time next week.
Best of all the shop is all of 2 miles from my house.
Things couldnt have worked out better.
I for one am very thankful for that.

So again a big thumbs up for MTs help and Delray Cycle.ThumbUp
They even have a really nice website now too.

Re: A big thumbs up to Motor Trike CS and this forum in particular

Folks
Im just actually overly happy how this has all ended up so far.
At first I was extremely fustrated due to commication difficulties between myself and MT.
Almost 6 weeks of sending emails, getting no response on my end from MT.
The thought of having to go over 3+ hours to a dealer wasnt something I was looking forward to.
Being single with a long overnight trip. The thought of staying in a motel for a few days while waiting for a repair.
The thought of the bike breaking down on the way was on my mind.:AGGHH:

Some of you guys have been very helpful.
Some have emailed me saying Im butt kissing being a phony etc.
Whether I had done my due dilligence before buying this trike then complaining about its non adjustability for me in my case.

None of you know me or my physical limitaions.
I try to explain my side of things etc.
I get crapped on for it.
Over 2 different forums.
Im over that........ so save your emails.

I am again however extremly happy overall how all this is turning out so far and to eventually find a place in my own backyard.
Richard being very helpful when he didnt have to be,
This board for allowing me to be a PIA.

Now if this is being a** kisser to some of you??
Im an a** kisser. I can live with it.
Some of you have a very strange definition of being given a place to air ones problems.

Re: A big thumbs up to Motor Trike CS and this forum in particular

Thats exactly what Id like to do less the back rest part.
Thanks for the photo.
Ill use that when I talk with some local upholsterers.
They are plentiful around here.

Re: A big thumbs up to Motor Trike CS and this forum in particular

I guess this explains why I never got responses from my emails either... trying to phone didn't work either. Richard did finally get in touch with me, but at a time when I couldn't really talk and weeks after I'd already dealt with the problem, (or rather muddled my way through it.) I found Katie totally unprofessional in our conversations...(one time she'd tell me one thing, next time she wouldn't remember what she'd said and tell me something else). And so far, two installers (company reps as far as I'm concerned), have cost me close to $1500 in expenses, and personal time lost, and I don't feel I received services to justify these losses.

From now on, I'll deal with my own problems, and would never recommend anyone buy a Motortrike based on my experience. If you have a good experience with Motortrike, great, and it should be talked about. I'm not bitching here simply to bitch. After reading all of the "full of sunshine" posts, I thought "Great for them" but I feel this thread needs to be balanced out with a different flavor to give people a true prospective of what's going on. If Motortrike is truly dealing with their customer service issues, then great, and I feel that will show through in the end without any censoring of my posts. I'm just trying to voice my own experience and "let the chips fall as they may"

Re: A big thumbs up to Motor Trike CS and this forum in particular

I've got a little different take on customer service. I bought my trike used, as near as I can tell, it was triked around Y2K. An original owner could expect service calls answered and warranty help for whatever the original contract was for. I never expected any assistance, so I've never contacted MT on any issues.

The fact that MT allows their copyrighted service manual to be hosted online here (it was a big help to me in servicing/learning the do's & dont's) tells me they're pretty standup folks.

Try hosting Mother Honda's manuals on the 'net. Their lawyers will be calling pronto. Don't want to deprive Honda of a service fee! I've seen this happen on many sites, so again, Kudos to MotorTrike, and TT for a place to do it.

Re: A big thumbs up to Motor Trike CS and this forum in particular

Right or wrong Chumbly.
For weeks I was in your shoes waiting for an email reply, that never came to numerous emails sent beginning in Nov before I even bought the trike.
Im not, never have been looking for anyones sympathy.
I was more or less in your situation and willing to take it on somewhere some how on my own. With no clue as to how to go about it.

Eventually
I found the shop on a friday and used this forum to PM, MotorTrike directly with the details.
Richard with the info I supplied him here in the PM. On the following monday or tuesday, talked to the owner of the shop.
He <Richard>then called me as I also gave him my phone number in the PM.
He explained whats what that he indeed had been recieving my emails all along, but with me not getting his back???
The PM here was a last resort by me.
Alls well.
I dropped the trike off this past friday.
What eventualy turns out??
I honestly dont know yet.
I havent heard from the shop and dont expect to before midweek.
This is more or less as it stands now.
Bike is at the shop. Ill wait for a call.
Im assuming it can be repaired where it is. I am hopping that to be so.

I dont expect you to have read this thread beginning to end. Its not important that you do.
I didnt know what else to do, but try to get to MT from here.
It worked.

I gave a Big Thumbs up particulary to the forum owners, and to MotorTrike CS for taking care of and allowing me to air my problems here in public.
Im a big boy I can take the crap Im getting at home in my email for saying what a good job, they the forum owners and MT have done by me.

Im truly sorry you had to go through your difficulties Chumbly, as my own are on the way to being resolved.

Re: A big thumbs up to Motor Trike CS and this forum in particular

Yep, and good for you. And good for MT for stepping up to the plate. I just can't help but wonder what the outcome would have been if this wasn't such a public forum... but enough of this, onwards and upwards.ThumbUp
