I am in the process of planning a trip on my Triglide this summer and would like some suggestions.

I am leaving some time in June from La Crosse Wi for Durango Co.

Any points of interest along the way or suggestion would be helpful. I am planning on about 3 weeks for the trip.

thanks for the help.

Hi from Nashville, Tn, I'm wanting to do a similar trip this summer, so looking forward to see what others suggest. Oh, I've been on the top of Mt. Estes in Estes Park, Co and it snowed on up, very cold. That ride is north west of Denver, its amazing. Karen

There's a museum in Minden, Nebraska that is a fantastic place o see. It's called the "Pioneer Village Museum" and you can spend 2 days in it easily. If you stay at the motel next door, the admission is free. Pioneer Village

The part of the million dollar highway (hwy 550) from Ouray to Silverton is the part I like the best, no guard rails and plenty of "pucker" opportunities in that 23 miles. It's all good road and there's lots to see.

If you're in Durango or nearby and want a hearty breakfast, give the Durango Diner shot. A full order of hashbrowns will easily take care of 2 people. Durango Diner-Durango, Colorado's favorite restaurant, makers of famous Durango Diner Green Chili, Southwest Salsa, and Enchilada Sauce, Order Online

Others will have input about places to visit. Good luck on the trip and safe riding.

Bighorn, Thanks for that link to Pioneer Village, it looks just like the kind of place I like to spend a lot of time in. If it has wheels, engines and/or wings it is worth looking at. I want to ride up to Sturgis and this looks like a place to stop on the way up or back or both.
I just looked at a map and I think, thanks to Dick & Bighorn, I just figured out my trip to Sturgis, up & back. I've wanted to visit J&P and their museum, so I think my trip will include J&P, Pioneer & Sturgis.

Dick, I don't know if you've been to J&P & their museum, I heard it's worth a visit and maybe you can include that in your trip.

Dick,

I am in Albert Lea, MN. Anywho, took a trip three years ago from here to Park City, UT then north. Mostly back roads from here to Ft Collins, CO. Not allot to see along the route we took until we were in the Ft Collins area.
In Iowa there is The Freedom Rock. If you have any detailed questions you would like to ask, PM me you phone number and we can talk.

Lots of places on way through CO. Rock Mt National Park. Million $ Highway, Mt. Evans (Mount Evans - Highest Paved Road in North America - Highest Paved Road in NA), Sand Dunes NP (Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve - Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve) Mesa Verde NP (ww.nps.gov/meve/). If your trip permits, plan a night in Glenwood Springs (Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge, Pool and Spa in Glenwood Springs CO). You can always follow a piece of the Lewis and Clark or Oregon Trail. Check www.byways. org for any state you plan on traversing. Also CO Rte 50 between Canyon City out toward Gunnison is nice.
Post a copy of the trip once you get a layout. Always looking for ideas myself and good luck!

If you are looking for a challenge you might turn on CO Hwy 347 just east of Montrose a couple miles. It will take you back to one of The Black Canyon Of The Gunnison Campgrounds. The road down is one twisty steep son of a gun to say the least but the view and experience is GREAT!!!
