transmission conversion

Getting ready to convert from a 4 speed manual to a auto-stick. Pulled the body and motor yesterday. If the weather holds out, will try and pull the manual trans today. Looks as if I've got everything for it, oil pump, flex-plate, torque converter, booster, tank, and transmission. Hopefully itll be a straight forward swap out with very few modifications. Will take some pice this afternoon.

Got all the mounts pulled loose. All thats left is to disconnect the axles and remove the old manual transmission. So far its went a lot better than i thought.

Hows that swap going lasso? I am really not sure how that trans works, but always looking for ways to make my rides more comfortable and pleasurable.

It is easy to do, simply remove the 4 speed and ut the autostick trannie in it's place, Then you need to change the ol pump over to the autostick pump, but there are 2 types od oil pumps, one is a disc cam type and the other is a flat cam, then hook up the oil lines from the pump to the resvoir[trannie fluid] and the vaccum cannister and the the soleoid[the brain] and hook the wires up to your shifter, but takes a special shifter to make it work, or you can use a 4 speed shifter and hook one wire from the solenoid to a horn button on handlebars and the other to power, and use the horn button to disengage the tranne to shift.
The biggest thing is finding a place for all of it to go and look pretty, grinn.
Now, let me tell you something, back in 1974 VW came out with an autostick that has a Park position in it, so when you park your trike, you engage it in Park and can walk away from it and it will stay there and not roll off into the sunset, grinn, These are rare, but a good find if you can find one,

Ah they are around here, I findthem alot, but the ones with Park are getting hard to find.
You try loooking on CL[craigslist] in your area are around you near by.? The biggest thing is finding all the parts, especially the oil pump, most people don't take them off the motor and then just throw it away, Have you tried lookng on TheSamba.com :: Volkswagen Classifieds, photos, shows, forums, and information
