Aux Tank Fill on RS

Recently had my 2005 converted. Tech warned me about to rapid a fill on the aux tank. I've not filled mine yet. Just how cautious should I be to avoid splash back? Too slow and I'll be forever filling the 5 gal, too slow and I have gas over everything. Trying to get a feel for this before I experience an aggravation.

I have a RS as well. When I fill I give as much pressure that you can get through the filler and then at 4 gallon mark I back off as much as I can. An don't try topping it off. Hisst

Good post. Do you cram the nozzle totally into the filler, then pump 'til the 4 gal comes up, then back off until you almost reach the 5?

When I'm ready to fill up, that means both tanks. I start with the aux tank and do not put the nozzle all the way in because if I do, it will continually shut down early. When the meter says 4.5 gal, I quit (don't want it to heat up in warm weather and run over - happened to me once - and ONLY once).

I then put a rubber device called "GasBuddy", I think, in the filler port of the main tank, stick the nozzle all the way in and let it fill until it cuts itself off. That rubber gizmo allows the tank to fill to where it ought to be without me constantly looking down the filler tube to check the level. A few bucks well-spent.

Information I can use, thanks. Tell me more about the GasBluddy, where can I get it? I Googled, nothing but 'gas prices' came up.

Yes, that is the correct name (Gas Buddy). I also have one and it works perfectly!

What he said. Works well. Be SURE the transfer switch is OFF when you fill up, or you WILL pump gas out of the bike when you start her up!!!

Try the Harley dealers, HD used to have them in their catalog. I picked one up last year.
