Lost job,guns,$25,000

A friend of mine of 30 years a gun collector .This is the story .He went to a meeting because his boss was out of town, he sat through the meeting taking notes didn't say anything .When the meeting was over a fellow associates said to him you didn't say much at the meeting and my friend said to him why should I not my business. What you going to do fire me .He goes back to work ,does his job , goes home normal time. The next morning he wakes up and his house is surrounded by police. The fellow worker went to see the CEO and said he thought that the guy was despondant and that he knew he did own quite a few guns. This guy Is 58 years old. The police take away his guns , put him in an ambulance and send him to a hospital for evaluation. He posts a $250,000 bond ($25,000 cash) . They fire him. He goes to court and the guy admits that he was just afraid of what might have happened. One of the Guns he had was an M16. He may go up the river for 4 years. If you own guns be careful what you say. This guy has no record, he was even in politics for a short time.

These are different times we are living in. When I was a kid (16-18) many of us drove a pickup truck to school with our shotgun(s) in a gun rack in the rear window. Yes the truck was locked but most of the time our guns were in full view. During hunting season, many of us dove hunted or deer hunted together after school, sometimes with our teachers and coaches so this was no big deal back in the day, at least where I grew up. If we had a problem with someone at school, worst case we duked it out and took our paddling but we didn't shoot one another.

We did the same as kids , except the school didn't take kindly , when on April Fools Day (students dressed in costumes for the day) several of us dressed as cowboys complete with pistols (loaded with blanks). Some fool fired one in a stairwell (45 cal.) and the echo was horrendis , and the principal confiscated the blanks from all of us and school continued on. Today we would have ALL been jailed for a long time.

I think this over cautious mode will become very exaggerated in the coming months and years-it is a sign of the times. Sucks that your friend had to go thru all this BS.

When I was in high school, we too hunted and fished a lot also. One day a group of us heathins got the bright idea to flush a lit M-80 down the toilet at school. We did not check all of the stalls-a teacher was in the end one. Long story shortend... he came flying out of the stall grabbed one of my buddies, and our lives changed shortly there after. This was back in the day where teachers were allowed to paddle students. None of us sat down much over the next week!

The moral of this story is-always check every stall before you flush a lit M-80 down a school toilet!!!! We also had to pay for the damages, and got suspended for a week. Now days-it would have been DT and a ban from returning to school. I was a very bad kid!

I met with this guy today. We sat down and talked about it. Now you have to remember to add into this story. We are 35 miles from Sandy Hook. This happened 14 days after that. During the trial they asked the person that made the accusation and he admitted that he never said all that. They asked the Police officer, you wrote in your report that the plaintive stormed out of the room after an altercation . His reply was" you will notice it s not in " " marks. I add that to embellish the report to show the severity of this situation. I was afraid if I didn't embellish it , it would have been swept under the rug, and not brought to trial.
The state of Conn. is out of control right now. Warning if you own a GUN don't raise you voice to anyone.

I'd never live up in those states! That's part of the reason I choose to live in Pennsylvania. Although our rights are slowly being eroded here too. When you elect liberals, this is what you get.

im in GA. carry every day. several towns here have a law on their statutes that every homeowner has to own a firearm..

This reminds me as a Junior in High School standing in the parking lot switching shotguns with the principal to see who had the best and fastest Deer Gun. My 25 year old Winchester Pump or his new fangled 11-87 semi automatic. We were even cycling shells through them.<br />
