Thumbs up Dyna Beads vs. Ride-On

I've done a lot of wondering, weighing pros and cons and wasted a lot of time trying to decide which was most important to me: not having a flat or having my tires continuously balanced.

Last year I wanted to ride through several western states, far from any support services so flat-prevention won over balancing (after all, lead weights have always worked just fine and if you were dumb enough to inject a sealant followed with those little beads they would just be captured by the sealant and both would be useless). So I started searching and reading.

And I found Ride-On claimed to do both the balancing and the sealing! After reading several articles I became convinced and put the required amount in all three tires and set off on my 5,299 mile trip.

Results: No flats, no leaks. Did find one finishing nail in a tire and pulled it out, no problem. As to the balancing, must have worked - comfortable, without any visible wear on the almost new tires.

A one-man 5,000 mile test is hardly definitive but it worked for me and is a choice I'm happy with. pepper

Konrad - do a search for beads & ride on. The were 1 or 2 recent threads which covered this subject rather well. Time frame, last 3 or 4 months. Like lots of things, many folks have different opinions, and everyone's opinion is "correct" ( ). Anyway, I went with beads, they have arrived but have not yet been installed. Good luck with whichever you choose.

I've used the Ride-on in my MC & trike. Have about 15K miles on it in the MC, dark side rear, and haven't had any flats, or balance issues. I installed it in the trike last summer, MC formula in all three tires. It does a great job on balancing.

I opted for no beads. My only experience with beads was in truck tires. When you stop, they fall to the bottom, then don't re-balance until about 30 mph. At least, that was my experience in a Freightliner and a Volvo many years ago.

Never tried the Centramatics styles offered now for MC's.

I have used that Green Slime stuff before, didn't have any problems with it but it was messy when I replaced that tire. Haven't ever used Ride On or the Dyna Beads. I have a pair of Centramatic Balancers and a new rear tire for the front tire but haven't installed them yet, its been too cold to work on it. Is the Ride On stuff messy when repairing or changing a tire?

Not only does it wash out with water, You can remove it with your hand and reuse it in the new tire.

I have Ride On in my inventory, use it in my new BT45 when it gets installed on my front. It's not cheap, but I did a lot of "due diligence", this was my choice.

I wish I would have gotten this before the beads. I like the idea that it's a self sealing product even if it's minimal. Isn't hindsight great? :-(

I have and do use both in my bikes.
I use Ride-On more so for as you have stated flat protecton and balancing.
It does indeed do both and has saved me on more then one occasion from flats.
The most recent being a small brad inbetween the treads of my CT on my Yamaha RoadStar.
I pulled out the brad and let the tire self seal, while adding air with my compressor.

I use beads in a front rear tire also on the RoadStar as it was a problematic tire to balance when new.

I use the automotive formula in all my other tires with the exception of the front on the R* which has the beads.

Thank you my TrikeTalk friends. I have just learned about another excellent product - Ride-On. At this time, I am in the process of replacing my front tire with aother Mich. Activ tire and will try this product. In my last tire replacement, I used the dyna beads and really have no complaints with them. However, I do like the tire sealing capability of this product and also feel it will respond better to the dynamcs of a rotating tire for balancing purposes. Thanks again, I had never heard of the product until reading this thread, you guys continue to amaze me! John

I balance my tires with weights and use Ride On in all three for flat prevention. The trike rides smooth and no bounce. I have beads in my trailer tires which works well for balancing, however put them in before I learned of Ride On. Would definitely used Ride On in the trailer I had known of it prior to installing beads.
