    Unhappy Want to install Heel Toe Shifter

    Has anyone tried to install the Kuryakyn Heel-Toe Shift Part#4039 on their Trike (CSC with ground effects). I looked at the part and I don't see why it would not work. The installer told me that I could not install any Heel-Toe Shifter as it would not clear the ground effects, but its like five inches from the foot peg to the grouund effects and I figured when you shift the shifter it is only moving 1 to 2 inches max.It will still allow the Ground effect to be bolted to the foot peg as you use your original foot peg, all you are doing is moving it out approx. a inch to add in the new mount with the shifter installed on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    hbrogan57, thanks for responding. Do you know which model you used on your trike? I also noticed that you trike is a Hannigan and I am not sure how you ground effects are supported. Mine have a hanger in the front to the engine guard, in the middle they remove the clip off the footpeg and replace the pin and clip with a bolt and nut that are connected to a l shaped bracket that goes under the ground effects and 2 nuts /bolts / fender washers at the rear through the fender. Basically I would be replacing the foot peg mount with the one in the first posting and reinstalling my foot peg with the bolt and nut that support the ground effects.

    It should work find, if your just putting on the heel toe and not the floorboards. I have one on my MT Adventure trike and not sure I like it, only have a few hundred miles. I put it on because I was having leg problems with my hip.Got that fixed now just not sure if I like it.

    Judging by the responses you have already received, I don't think you'll have any issues.

    I also have the Heel/Toe shifter on my Roadsmith with no issues. And this is with the Comfort Controls also installed which brings the floor board and Heel/Toe much closer tot he Wing Boards, or as you call them, Ground Effects. I hope this helps.

    See photos below;

    That pic you showed, has an assembley below the heel shift peg that looks odd to me. It attaches to something-perhaps it is a specialized set up? Try removing that and it may fit and shift properly. I have never seen a contraption like that on a heel-toe shifter?<img src="images/smilies/shrug.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Shrug" class="inlineimg" /><img src="images/smilies/confused.gif" border="0" alt="" title="huh??" class="inlineimg" /><img src="images/smilies/smiley confused.gif" border="0" alt="" title="confused" class="inlineimg" />

    Lol,,,.

    I think Mark is referring to my photos. I have no problems shifting and she shifts smooth as silk.

    What you're seeing is the setup for Roadsmith's "Comfort Controls". They move both sides (shifter & rear brake) forward and down making for a much more comfortable and to me, 'natural' foot/leg position. I never liked the 'tucked' foot position on the Wing and Valkyrie for that matter. I was all ready to go for a Harley just for the foot forward position. But when Roadsmith came out with these Comfort Controls, I ordered them even before I picked up my trike in what you would call a 'Leap of Faith' hoping that they would at least partially improve the foot placement which they did.

    Americanbadass if you are refering to the pic that I added to the original post, the little black item is a hard teflon plastic (2 halves that are screwed together) and replace the rubber on the shift lever. The heel-toe shifter then slides onto it when installing.

    I know this has come up before. I have a Kury heel/toe shifter with my CSC kit (with ground effects). The installer tried to tell me it wouldn't work. I replied that I saw one on CSC's website. Somehow, my installer made it work and I love it. I don't have the model number handy. Just know that it CAN be done!

    Good luck!

    I placed a Kuryakyn Heel/Toe Shifter on my 2012 Honda Goldwing Trike. I have the CSC - Viper edition with running boards and have not experienced any problems mounting it or shifting. I like the advantage of placing my feet on a solid surface, not on a peg. They look good also.
