shakes

So you changed transaxle, throwout bearing, pressure plate, clutch, flywheel, wheel bearings and cv joints and it still has the same shake? Have you tried taking off in second gear and if you have, does it still shake? If so, does it shake worse?

I had the same problem with my trike. I replaced the throwout bearing and it improved significantly, but didn't stop it altogether. It still shutters occasionally when taking off in first gear.

I later learned that If replacing the throwout bearing and/or pressure plate doesn't fix the problem, it could be the absence of a component called a Boden (sp?) tube, which maintains proper and constant tension on the clutch cable.

Also, if it's popping out of first gear when it shutters, that could be something as simple as the shifter being out of adjustment, or worse, a worn shifter fork, though that's more common with fourth gear issues.

Hope this helps.

Yes to all above trike is basically all new again we are going to put woven disc back in and take out 6 pad thats why we're at a loss done everything we can think of

what does everyone think about frontend being to light would that cause a shake

I've been saying that all along....I do have experience with elongated springer front ends. They shake, and hop like a sumbeotch, especially if not torqued properly. The springer on the front of your trike is not heavy and substantial enough for the weight involved- IMO. Not trying to hurt any feelings ....just sayin

this trike is hubby's first shot at building trike he has learned alot from this one and already planning a second one

geannie mine is built with fiberglass body also. Now what I have welded to bottom of down tube is weight filled pipes [3, 14 inch pipes] out of the way. Another problem I had when I bought mine was the wheel spacers were loose [you could spin with fingers, not good] so after tightening took away high speed shake.Hope this helps in some way but, I believe with just first gear shake its still in flywheel or clutch........NOT a mechanic, just past problems with big trucks.

Like I stated I was not a VW mechanic, but I read the article Doug D posted that would be where I would try .I do hope you let us know when you do find it and sure you will.
