Traction Control Brake

I found this system on eGlideGoodies called a Traction Control Brake system. It kinda sounds interesting to me.

Has anyone else got it, or tried it, or have any opinions? I didn't find anything in searching the forum.

Call me skeptical, but the concept of absolutely no dead-weight friction between the rubber and the road for my trike, leaves me cold.

I fully understand that there are instances where no lock-up might be desirable, but certainlly not 100% of the time.

Pure stopping power relys on maximum friction between BOTH the brakes and rotors AND the tires and the road. ABS systems achieves this by the repetitive lock/unlock sequence.

Bottom line; if I only wanted to slow down quickly, this is great...but sometimes I need to quickly STOP !

All things being equal Blue, do you feel like you can stop faster than a trike with ABS? I'm sure I couldn't. PC

Just to add to this ABS also uses a speed sensor to know how fast the wheel is rotating for braking.

There is only an $825 difference between the security package that includes the ABS & the package that doesn't. But then you have 3 wheels, so it would cost for the extra sensors. Also the package would need a different brain for the three wheels instead of two.
But then they would have to improve the rear brakes to compensate for lost braking on the front when it cuts the front brakes back to keep it rolling.
The fittings the OP is looking at is just to eliminate the shock of applying too much brake initially (panic stop) and locking up the brakes. You still can lock em up, but you have to do it against a shock absorber.
Sliding tires won't stop you as short as a slightly rolling tire under max braking.

The Spyder has a definite advantage over all the trikes when it comes to braking . When the weight goes forward, it goes on 2 wheels & not just 1 !

I had one, and you can't beat their brakes ! The main problem is with their electric power steering. Another story....

But the ABS does work well ! It just gets odd not having a hand brake ! One guy started making a system to apply the foot brake with a hand control. It physically applied the foot lever.

They also have a foot applied parking brake. It works well also ! You can't move the bike with it on.

Also a reverse built in the trans, with a solenoid lock out. Same ratio as 1st gear.

BUT I like my Harley better anyway!

No Phu, I don't, but we weren't talking about an ABS system and that was the point.

I am a believer in ABS, but this is being marketed as an great alternative and I am not at all convinced it is (great, that is).
