Why am I not surprised. I guess the next step will be flying the Chinese flag next to the American flag. We're so screwed!
Got a new 3/8 in Ratchet the other day. Notice where Craftsman tools are now made.

Its getting pretty bad, hard to find anything made in USA anymore.
Rod69 Illinois TOI #900
Joan71 Illinois TOI #901
they been made in that area for years..Some of the tools are the same but carry other name brands on them..Sometimes cheaper in price...
Try and find a pair of Levis made in USA
Yeah, had a craftsman router bit break a couple of years ago. Took it in to be replaced under warranty and was told it was not warranted. Showed the guy the wooden box it came in which said made in the US and he said yes, but only the box is US made craftsman, lol.
IF you don't go too far too fast, you won't get too lost too soon.:xzqxz:
"Sign of the Times".....Companies have to remain competitive in Their fields to survive...Once Your Competition goes "elsewhere" with Their manufacturing to reduce Their wholesale/retail prices, You're forced to do the same. This has produced less manufacturing jobs in this Country, but produced many, many wholesale and distributing jobs...not necessarily defending the whole process, but the price of goods here has remained low enough for most USA Citizens to enjoy a comfortable, affordable way of Life...would I prefer a larger "Made in USA Manufacturing Base", sure, but probably not a realistic future.....

And when these companies went "elsewhere",so did the quality.Craftsman being a good example.
Months ago I bought a new pair of wire cutter pliers, first time I used them the jaws broke.Bad metal.Did take them back and clerk stated "no problem" and went and got me another pair.
Something I did notice (never seen before) was a large barrel,15-20 gallons, behind the counter that he threw the broken ones into, was nearly full to the top.
I would have been willing to pay a little more to get the same quality they used to be.
Snap-on, but the American Quality sure costs...90% of my Personal Hand Tools came from Them.....pepperpepperpepper
