I got started on my trike conversion today. I got the gas tank, upper and lower fairing off as well as opened up the instument panel.
I got tired and had to quit.
The oxygen hose in my nose is constantly frustrating as it is in the way.
I don't know how many times i tore it off my face accentally, hurts every time too.
Yes, i barked up my hands and bleed all over but i'm started!
I dont know how to post pictures of my progress!

Paul,,,,, one way to share photos is, upload them to a free online photo storage program like PHOTOBUCKET and then post the links here , like this

I can totally relate to the nose hose problem, I too wear one 24/7 and it can be a challenge sometimes, but when I think of the alternative, I keep plugging away. I admire your spunk,, your not sitting around in a rocking chair waiting on the end to come. Your doing your thing your way. Two Thumbs up

Thought i would just drop a note:

Faith is a powerful force my friend.
Once i figured out i really wasn't invincible the raw spirituality of some of my friends and loved ones saw me past those weeks of hospital depression also.

I guess i have never been a very religious person in the classical sense of the word
But i have no doubt that there is a God and i'm not him.

It is only through greater humility that i have ever been able to summon enough faith and courage to see me through all adversity.
Adversity doe's not not have to equal chaos. I have a choice in the matter through free will?

    I salute your faith!

    Mine is simple:
I take all that is good and all that is bad in my life and hand it over to a power greater than myself, And all i ask for is that he make me into the man he wishes me to be.
I don't have to do any of that analysis to paralysis crap. I only have to be willing to alighn my will with his own.
It divorces me from depression about my condition and helps me to find other ways to compensate for not doing things quite the way i used to?
It is very seldom i get down in the dumps.
Sometimes life can be really grand!

    Pcombe,
You are a inspiration to me- on more than one level. It is refreshing to read your "story". I like how you incorperate words like humility, adversity not having to equal chaos, and being divorced from depression. I sure hope to meet you in person one day. When asked about about my stroke I ususlly say something like," I am not particularly happy that it happened but I lived." So, each day I, in some way, celebrate life. Paul, you have my admiration.

Just noticed this...I rode with the Sundowners for many years. I woke up a about 10 years ago, right about the time my first grand daughter was born. It wasn't just her birth that made me stop, but I have had custody of her since she was born..pretty much.
That lifestyle really took a toll on me physically, and within a few years of quitting the Sundowners, I quit drinking and started to go to bed at night. If I would not have ended that....I am sure I would be pushin up Daisy's now. I am not above having a few drinks even now...but moderation is good for me. There is a story I wrote in the "how did you get your screen name" thread ...that pretty much explains the lifestyle I led.

    aba,
I too, found out that going to bed at night has it's advantages. I really tip my hat to you for caring for your grand daughter. Others in your shoes may well have chosen to not step up. I salute you.

Paul, I've been sitting here cracking up over your posts about your daughter, her boyfriend, your bleeding issues......

All I can say to all of you is that I haven't yet seen a REAL disability mentioned by anyone! Oh, you've all been handed particularly uncomfortable/inconvenient/frustrating/scary challenges for sure; but not a one of you has become disabled by them. Now, a lousy, negative, woe-is-me perspective on life.... THAT's a real disability!

Thank you all for blessing all of us with your stories, your fun, your faith, your appreciation for life and living. May all of our hearts be as "ABLE" as yours' are!

Keep after it and before you know it you'll have it done. You might try wearing some Mechanix gloves to help with the hands, the dexterity is still pretty good with them. I switched to using gloves several years ago because I grew tired of cutting my hands up.

I got the front end off and the bottom race in the neck has no edge to get ahold of to drive it out of the frame neck.
    Harley has a special tool.
Short of grinding it out im at a standstill.
I can borrow a tool come monday but damn i would like to get going back together,

    I will post pictures regularly!
finally got fed up with that bearing race, I spent a couple hrs, trying to grind it and bust it with a chisel, I put a couple spot welds on it so i could get ahold of it with a punch and it fell out with one tap!
I used to that with heavy equiptment. I would weld a bead all around the bearing race but a couple small tack welds did the trick here.
I should have done it in the first place.

    Hi all,
I'm shopping for a bike atm but I want a bike that still leans etc without letting me fall off or requires me to put feet down.

I started out about 7 years ago with Fibromyalgia, Myofascial pain syndrome, most of the whole spectrum disorder syndrome as it is otherwise known and Chronic Fatigue, took me 3 years to get back out of bed. Then a couple of years ago got diagnosed with Polyarthralgia which is just a fancy way of literally saying "many" so I have Rheumatoid, Osteo and the kicker was advanced enthesopathy as well. All the while trying to balance meds and lifestyle and had my first surgerylast year, fusing C5-C7 with disc replacements etc.

So yeah I want no lateral forces so I want a multiwheel bike of any kind that I can register that leans that isn't a scooter because I have a certain amount of expectation of riding.

Ive searched the site here but I didn't find anything with the search engine, I dont seem to have any luck with them on any forum- lol.

If anyone knows of something let me know but I am out there actively looking and speaking to companies now.

I have got special dispensation from my state roads authority to build a Quadricycle of the road qoing kind rather than an ag or sports on with road tyres after all 4 wheels do balance better than 3. For buying there are a few other companies that have leaning bikes, but only the scooters seem to have the longevity the others are one model "fly by nighters" who disappear after 6 months operation.

I have found Tilting works and Tremoto who both have been at it for a while and although not hugely successful in sales yet are dedicated guys who have been at it for years. So I guess they will remain in my box for the moment and I'll take any advice the board can give me.

    Cheers all

    Gavin

    Cheers all

    Gavin
Check out the new forum called "shopping for a trike".

Get with Bazooka, he is the forums owner.
There is also companys listed on the right of the forum page.
They do make trikes with independant suspension.

Or you can get a set of training type wheels that lower when you stop and raise when you go. they fit on your two wheeler. they are operated by switch on your handle bars.
I have seen videos of them and have also seen them mounted on one bike.

finally got fed up with that bearing race, I spent a couple hrs, trying to grind it and bust it with a chisel, I put a couple spot welds on it so i could get ahold of it with a punch and it fell out with one tap!
I used to that with heavy equiptment. I would weld a bead all around the bearing race but a couple small tack welds did the trick here.
I should have done it in the first place.
