Default Roadsmith manual and parts list

I just purchased a freshly ( 2012) used RS kitted 05 gl1800 to replace my wrecked trike. Trike is being shipped next week ( supposidly) and should be here sometime early the following week ?? I am searching for a service manual and parts list for the RS. Cant seem to find anything regarding a service manual or parts list anywhere on the internet for the RS kit.

RS uses a 4 1/2 degree eazy steer. Does anyone know whether or not they put a short spacer on the top of the front forks to compensate for the easy steer that does lowerthe front and the spacer on top of the front forks bring things back up to level?????

Any one that can share their own expertise regarding the RS it sure would be appreciated.... My exp has been 2 wheels and then when i went to a trike it was the Lehman brand...

@ I am HOPING to use my centerline rims 4 x 4 1/5, 7 in, +25 offset with custom Diamond Black white wall tires 245/50R16 on the Roadsmith But not sure how much extra space there is in the RS wheel well.

Yeah i know that until i have trike in hand and do some " does it fit r not" i wont really know. But some educated info from others would give me some info.....

    Thanks.

Welcome to the Roadsmith world. I contact RS and got the install and owners manual. You can contact them or I could email my copy to you, either way you will get what you are after.
There are things I like and don't like about this particular conversion but I'm sure that every kit has its quirks.
Who did you buy your Roadsmith from?
I have all but rebuilt mine because the aux tank leaked and I had to take my 06 wing RS kit to the frame to replace the tank. It is all back together and I'm happier now.
    Good luck and have fun.
    Kent
P.S. You will need to contact RS and register your kit with them.

    Thanks for the offer.
The trike was kitted by UNB Customs: Trikes, Trike Kits and Motorcycle Trike Conversions
Since the kit was installed just over a year ago any issues with the install (gas tank leaking like your did) * OURS HAS THE AUX GAS TANK*
would have already been resolved and its still got 2 years on the trike kit warrenty ( or i am assuming that the kit warrenty follows the trike and doesnt stay with the original owner.)

Not sure how well i will like the RS conversion as the Lehman was a fantastic machine. Even as an older 01 it attracted a crowd wherever it was.. Not just that it was yellow and a couple of old farts were ridding it but it had a lot of custom airbrush work, pin stripping and chrome galore that made it a ONE OF A KIND, Handled great and cornered like it was on rails & absolutely no lean what so ever. The only down side was it was a rougher ride on bumpy roads due to solid rear axle.

Every kit installer, every brand and every bike has its own?. So i will surely have to try not to be too overly critical of how this one rides / handles as compared with the Lehman. Otherwise it will take away all the good of either bike.

Question... On my Lehman and many other trikes that have the ez steer installed they put a spacer on top of the front forks to bring the bike back up to level due to the road clearance being reduced due to the addes degree on rake of the ez steer. IS there a small spacer on top of your front forks???

For one, the RS uses either a 5 1/2 or 6 degree rake kit. (At least that is what is recommended) Yes, there is a spacer on top of the fork tubes.

05 Wing with 2011 RS conversion here. Kury riser pullback, I'm liking most everything about the conversion except the miles per gallon loss. That's just part of it, just gotta know that going in, which I did.

I had those 3-5 way positioners on my Lehman and man did they make a diff. Even being 6ft tall and a fairly long reach i always felt like i was stretching. Then when i repositioned the handle bars it was like " WOW Now this is how it should be"

MPG is always going to drop when you put more rubber on the ground. Going from a single MC tire in the back to a wide car tires & the added weight its a given that the mpg is going to drop. Anyone thathas not taken thie into consideration isnt thinking.. Our Lehman got us anywhere between 30-35 on ling trips when we ( 2 up) were loaded down with everything but the sink.

I figured that they either used a spacer or made teir rake kit so that it ( spacer) was machined in. but i had to ask as i didnt know.
    Thanks

I think the Lehmans and the CSC are getting better mpg than the RS from what I read. My Tike Shop Tech said I'd get better mpg with mid grade fuel, but I don't know about that, I haven't tried it. So far, I'm not willing to pay the up charge.

I ordered ez-steer from Roadsmith at the same time I ordered the kit. 4.5 degree rake. The spacer must have been included as my bike is level - eacept that the frosnt fender is angled slightly "up".

I run regular and about every 5 tanks i add some stp. For the most part i am not sure that using premium grade all the time does more than costing you more to fill up. There is the thought that a tank of high test every once in awhile might be of some good as it ( supposidly) cleans the engine out better... But who knows whats hype and whats based on actual facts.... Same goes for what kit gives the best gas millage.. Total weight of trike, how much rubber on the ground etc all play a part. My lehman had 245/50R16 tires and i ran them at 22-24 PSI. Even on that trike my MPG would have changed had i used narrower tires due to less road/ tire friction..

Front fender is angled slightly up because the tire was moved out further from the bike when they put on the EZ steer and although they added a spacer to keep the bike level the front tire is still further away than stock and has slightly tilted back. thus the look as if the front fender is tilted.

One of those things that make you go " OHHhh"

If the RS rides and feels anywhere close to what the Lehman was then i am going to be one hppy camper.
Here i am 70 yrs old and i feel like a kid just waiting and counting the days, hours and seconds tilli can open my presents on Christmas morning. Were this my first bike i might could understand that butterflies but heck i have been ridding since the early 60's = over 50 years on 2 or 3 wheels. IS this (BUTTERFLIES) stupid or what???

One thing i got to remember is that i have to not do the " Well the Lehman was this and that etc" and take the RS for what it is. A great Honda Wing for starters and a great kit added.

@ We have a big ol dog that is ALMOST as much family as any of the kids or grandkids are. One could not possibly ask for a better mannered dog. But like all creatures he has his quirks and yet when he passes on i have told the boss of all bosses that we wont get another dog.. My reasoning is that no matter how great the other dog might be we will alwasy ( deep down) compare it to Bexar (pronounced Bear).
