rear tire on front of trike

I may have posted this before but my system crashed and I lost a lot
of info. So will a rear tire fit on the front of my GL1800 trike if
I can find one the same size as the original front tire? I am headed on a
road trip and need to replace the front first.

I ran one of these Kendas Kenda K671 Cruiser ST Rear Tire - Cruiser Motorcycle - Motorcycle Superstore
on my old goldwing 1500 trike and it held up good but I traded trikes before I got to see how long it would last, only put around 10,000 miles on it and it looked like it still had a lot left. I am on my second BT 45 on my 1800 trike, the first one lasted 12,000 miles and this second one appears that it will be gone around the same mileage. my next tire will be the Kenda and I will see how long it will last this time.

The BT-45 and the Michelin MPA seem to be the favorites. I like the BT-45 best. Be sure to buy the rear BIAS ply tire in the same as the standard front; 130x70x18. Pressure should 41 psi and it work well.

Wow Larry ( river rat). You arre hard on tires. Is this a rear bias ply you have up front. Most people get in the mid 20,000 range. If you were running the OEM up front I bet you would be lucky to get 6 or 7,000 or of it..

yes, I have the rear bias ply tire up front and run 41 psi in them. I wish I could get mid 20's out of a tire but it just hasn't happened for me.

I just put a new Pilot Activ on last Friday. Took off the Pilot Activ that had almost 25,000 miles on it and the tire guy said I could get another 5,000 but I elected to go ahead and change it before then new season gets into full swing. Just purchased a Michelin Pilot Active Goldwing rear and have it mounted in reverse. I have a CSC '10 Cobra and went through the Dunlop 250 in 4000 miles and then went to the Bridgestone Excedra on the front and I got 9,000 miles out of that one no issues. Have read several posts and I can now understand why you need to have a bias ply tire on the front. They have much stronger sidewalls than radials. I hope I can get near 20K out of this new Michelin. I won't mind the buzzing because I can't hear anyway. I'll keep you posted on the performance. Cost was 104.00 from our local Honda Dealer in Bend Pro Caliber. Had to order it as there seems to be a run on these tires. Too much advertising on these forums. Best of luck with whatever tire you choose.

I just got my tire , it took two weeks by mail . I have a VTX 1300 trike I hope it fits .. I plan on putting on new brake pads too. Bridgestone broadaxe 140 80 17 rear ...reverse direction I think. As soon as I get the axle tool

I have just bought a Michelin Pilot Activ Rear 130/70-17 TT/TL 62H M/C to go on the front of mine, had to go up one size, the standard is a 120/70-17 but I have ran a 130/70 before but it was a standard front.
Will report back how I get on
