    Default Roadsmith or Hannigan?

I have a 2006 with Champion kit at moment (for sale). Looking at a Stallion, but also interested in new Roadsmith or Hannigan. Anyone seen the new Hannigan kit in person? Anyone have one that can tell me about it? I like it better than the older style. Also like the new Roadsmith kit looks. So which trike do you all like the best? Local dealer has both and plan to ride both. I am looking for the smoothest ride out there. We are both seniors and have bad backs and the Champion is rather harsh on rough roads.

I just road a 2012 Wing with the Hannigan kit with their easy steer. The ride is nice and smooth and the handling is great, I was very impressed with it. I plan on having my 2012 done with the Hannigan once I get the $$$ together.

Comfort is why I went Hannigan. Check out the specs and compare to the other kits and I think you will choose Hannigan as well.

You need to try out both. Only you can tell which trike conversion is going to be the most comfortable for you.
I am on my 2nd Roadsmith Trike but neither has been a Wing. Someday when I have a little spare change in my pocket I'll have one of the Wing/Roadsmith Trikes in my garage.

I've got a '10 Wing with a '12 Roadsmith kit on it and we are very happy with it. Ride is great, handling, with the rake kit and a fork brace, is very good. Range with the extra tank is excellent. Very satisfied customer. The folks at the Trike Shop were great to work with. Ride 'em both and get what suits YOU!

I live in the California Desert and the roads here are terrible! I have had both the Roadsmith & Hannigan and my vote would be for the Roadsmith-better ride quality and they both handle about the same.

I did that ride on a Hannigan last fall-the first 15 miles off HWY 86 are unreal, I think you are off the seat more than you are on it!<br />

I'm prejudiced because I have the Roadsmith and think it is a very smooth ride. I also have the Accuride System which automatically keeps the trike at the same level regardless of load. I love it. Also, I have had tremendous support from the Trike Shop. That said, choose your installer carefully as they are the key to success. Ask me how I know.

Both RoadSmith and Hannigan are excellent and reliable kits. I chose Roadsmith for two very basic reasons: (1) built-in trailer hitch, and (2) 5 gal reserve fuel tank. Yes, the reserve e tank was an extra cost option but in places like the Blue Ridge Pkwy or the western deserts was very much worth the extra cost.

I also like the very large trunk opening - I can get a good size suitcase with wheels in there. And another one on the aluminum tray that (you can buy for about $50) locks into the trailer hitch. (That essentially makes a wheel-less trailer and no back-up problems.)

The ride is just plain faultless from my POV - and I can be darned critical.

I bought my Roadsmith mainly for two reasons, large capacity trunk 6 cubic feet and 5 gal aux tank.
The only other trike I have ever ridden is my neighbors Lehman. It was nice enough to convince me I wanted a trike.
You can ask all the input you want but when it is all said and done only you can make a decision based on what you want. Most everyone is going to say they like theirs for whatever reason they have but they are their reasons, not yours.
    Good luck and have fun.

I have owned both and know of no negatives about either or the companies that build them. If I were going for another 1F/2R trike I would go with the Hannigan simply because of slight [perceived] edge in ride and stability. I suggest that you ride both and select a experienced and competent installer. I don't know where you are located but if near Michigan, check installer references [very] carefully. <g>

Well, I didn't get big red sold, so I traded her off for a 2013 silver gold wing with a Roadsmith kit. Gonna have to be big silver 13 now I guess. bigred 06

Hello Big Red. I've tested both the Road Smith and Hannigan. I've owned several trikes in the past and I know what to look for regarding the newer IS kits. Most trike kits are closely the same. For me, it came down to which kit LOOKED the best and which kit would probably give the LEAST amount of trouble down the road. I selected HANNIGAN because I liked the look, trunk space and the simple design of the kit. Kits with all kinds of bells and whistles are more problems that could occur. That being said, I no matter which kit you decide to purchase, you will be happy with it.

dr, good review from one that had been there on several trikes. If I had it to do over, I'd take take a closer look at the Hannigan. I like the body design from the rear, but don't know much about the overall engineering, my bad there. If my 2005 Wing Road Smith 'ever' wears out, I'll be looking at your choice.
