Default Stallion radio removal

What is the trick to removing that Sony radio from it's sleeve..I tried using those removal tools that came with the radio to no success..The radio will come out about a half inch after pulling quite hard and be springy and go right back in and I also tried some thin flat knives to release the tabs..Why does everything have to be so difficult. ...Any ideas??

hello- i had the same problem with my stallion. some of the plug in cables(at the rear of the radio) are VERY short & create this problem. it was^t easy to reach back & remove them, but can be done. be careful when reinstalling radio to be sure all cables are attached. just like cars-just enough wire to reach component-is 4-6 inches of extra wire too expensive? +designers should spend time as an assembler/mechanic then they may make life easier for the machanic. others may have a suggestion.alex

There was a small screw in the far back of the case that held the radio from sliding out. Once the screw was removed and with the use of the two removal tools, the radio slides very easy.

The majority of people don't even know it, but every "aftermarket" radio manufactured is designed to use this "screw". It's made to prevent stereo theft. However, as anyone who has ever installed a stereo in any vehicle out there; it's an act of congress to get that little screw installed with the rest of the vehicle in your way! Not to mention trying to remove it if it's installed.

I am the original owner and mine did not have the screw. I have probably had it out a half dozen times, comes out easy with the 2 enclosed release tools and have ample cable for it to clear the chassis.

I have spent 2 plus hrs today trying to get mine out and no luck. I have used the supplied tools and hear them click and unlock and it comes out about a 1/4 inch and then pops back in. I put a mirror under it and see no screw anywhere. Seems to be plenty of slack in the cables so thats not whats holding it up. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Question Re: Stallion radio removal

What do the special tools look like? I didn't get any with my trike.

Also is there a key to unlock the radio?

    TIA

About 4 inch long by 1/2 inch wide thin metal strips you slide along each side of radio

Figured it out, I was looking for a screw on the bottom. It's actually in the middle on the back of it, you'll feel a piece of plastic and there is a screw that screws thru the plastic into the radio

Glad you figured it out. That is what I posted on 4/27 . . . back of the radio.

the tools work great but, the first time I pulled mine(radio), the wires in the back were being held up by a tab or something in the back. Unplugged everything and it slide right out. Made sure to avoid the tab when putting back in.
