    Default rough riding tri-glide

the wife and I really love our trike, since we totaled our ultra 2 wheeler and have a bum hip now, it's easier to ride , only I wish it rode a little softer , our roads out here in az. are really bad , having a solid axle makes it rough riding , guess I should have got independent axle , oh well , I guess will have to live with it since we sure can't afford to make change now

What air pressure are you running in the rear tires. I run 22 lbs in the rear 40 lbs in the front. You can adjust air shocks to your weight and comfort. I run between 30 and 40 in mine.

Louisiana has bad roads too. I thought my trike was very rough till I purchased a low pressure hand-pump for the rear shocks. A little bit of playing around with tire pressures and shock pressures made a ton of difference. I know longer feel like I'm bottoming out on the holes and bumps now.

I had to lower the air pressure on my shocks and that really helped for me. Good luck with it.

16 to 20 in our rear tires. (11 TG). Doesn't cost a dime to play around with tire and shock pressures.

I bought my T/G in Jan this year, after my 1st ride I thought it road a little rough, when I got home and checked the tire press, it had 48 in the frt. and 38 in the rear, I lowered them to 36 frt. and 26 rear as the book says, road a lot better, when I took it back for the 1000 mile ck. on the way home I noticed it road hard, I ck. the tire press. agin and found they had put it back to around 45 frt. and 36 rear, the next day I told the ser. magr. about it, he had no idea what the press on a T/G should be, I showed him in the owners man and on the fork what it should be, he told me the maint. guy who serviced it was off today but he would talk to him in the morn. probley the same guy that serviced it when it arrived there.
if the dealer cant figure how to service the tires, how can you trust him to do anything right? from now on I will do my own maint.
Sorry, did not mean to ramble on, just venting I guess, any way try getting your tire press. as the owners man. says and adj. your shock press. to where it rides to suit you and your wife, good luck,
I've suffered a great many catastrophes in my life....

Ft. Mohave, Az!!! We were just there, down the road a tad. Wife and I have a house in Bullhead City. Were there for the Laughlin River Run. Like everyone said, dink with your rear tire pressure and shock pressure.

    Good Luck.

We will be back to Bullhead on the 12th through the 16, then on to Sedona for a few days and back to Bullhead for another week. Our house is in the gated community behind Safeway Mkt. Small World

Also DK Customs has another set of shock brackets that will change the ride also. I haven't tried them, but get hold of Kevin at DK customs. He can fill you in.

A solid axle trike is hard on the passenger. My sister complains often about that. Ride a IRS trike and you will like the difference.

Does legends air shock technology make that much improvement over the stock air shocks? Neither the stock air or legends look to have a spring over preload adjustment, and neither one has any compression/dampening adjustment. The legends system looks like its around 14-1600.00 for the trike just off a couple searches. It might be worth it if it would make it ride anywhere like my08 electraglide did with the ohlin shocks I put on it. They were around 900.00 and really transformed the ride on that bike.

What made you choose the legends, and more importantly would you do it again?

    Thanks

Exactly ! Ohlins and other shocks of similar quality prove that most lesser brands have no concept as to a shock absorbers function. They rely on the ignorance of customers who also don't understand. A top end correctly spec'd shock / or forks will transform most manufacturers bikes into something that's a lot better than just acceptable.

Lets say now you have that PO-GO affect when going over bumps and feels like its going to shoot up to the sky..After the install no more of that its more of a air bag..They more absorb the bump versus bounce you around... Its hard to explain but I was satified with my upgrade..There are pro and cons..Others claim they tweek tire pressure and shock pressure on the stock setup..Others like me went a different way.. Legends uses a compressor to adjust the shock pressure..I am sure Legends has some sort of dampner but call them they can help you with any information..

    Hope that helps some..

Been to AZ before and you guys have great roads. Come to Indiana where the roads are all messed up from the salt. Pot holes etc. All they do is patch them so it makes them ruff as hell. Or they put down chip and seal which only throws rocks everywhere. Ill trade you anytime.

I'll trade you JC, the roads here suck....especially after winter. Pot holes you can just plain fall into, and out in the mountain and backroads its like playing dodge ball on a trike. Which wheel do you wanna take the hit with?
