Here we go again. I am still looking for the correct geometry to build my trike. I think I have finally done enough research and here is what I came up with. If anyone knows for sure that I am wrong, please speek up.
On one tripply tree site , they say "do not use with stock size wheels".
Another contact says its OK. I realize that to input information on the rake and trail calculators requires actual measurements. But the RB Racing advanced calculator is what I used because it was simpler. Some measurements are left out. But if it gets me in the ballpark of handling vs safety, it may become trial and error.
Bike to be converted to trike. A 1997 Electraglide Standard.. 127 motor
Front tire ...25.3"
Neck rake ...
26 degrees
Tree offset...(negative) -2.455
forks....27.75
tree rake...
3.75
= trail of 6.88
Now to add a raked tripple tree for trike conversion.
Front tire ...2.3"
neck rake 26 degrees ( lowering back end 1" to maintain this when more rake is added)
Offset.... -2.455
forks... 27.75
new tree rake....10 degrees sets trail at 3.5"
or 11 degree trees sets trail at 2.96"
Leman trikes reports a value of between 3 and 4 to be perfect.
harleys triglide is..3.94
This is using same diameter wheels on the back.
Me and a passenger should change the neck rake angle by another degree so the inal trail should be about....3.86 " for 10 degree trees.
And for 11 degree trees it calculates to 3.31 " trail.
Either the 10 or 11 degree trees seem to be perfect with stock front end.
Wheels and forks and NOT using the 2 " fork tube plugs supplied with some tree kits.
