Time for rear tires!

I need to buy rear tires for my 2003 GW trike (Motor Trike) and the size on the trike now is 235 60 R-15. I would really like to buy good tires and a real important issue with me is QUIET. The tires that I have seen like this look like truck knobby tires which I'm pretty sure that they will be noisy!

Of course I want something that will handle good also.

Suggestions or feed back from someone????

The Michelin's on MJ Stallion have given her great performance and wear. 35K and going strong.

Same here. Have had lots of mileage on Michelins. Sports car ride and they hold the road really well. I keep mine inflated at 22 to 24 psi for a comfortable ride.

You can't go wrong with the Michelins. My 2006 Motor Trike came with BF Goodrich and after 30k they still have over 70% tread and still so smooth running I put them on my new Trike because I wanted to keep my rims. Put the new tires and rims on the oldtrike before selling it. I think any good tire store could show you some good quite tires. Good luck on your choice.

If your'e willing to move up to a 16" rim and mount a 245/50-16 I'd recommend the General Altimax HP. I know of some Spyder owners who are running with this tire and they are very happy with it. I also run with a set of Generals on my Focus SVT and I've been really happy with them.

With a motortrike the "tire" is not going to be a problem. What is going to be tricky is the RIM.

I say this without knowing what MT he has, but I would like to relate that ther IS a problem with fender clearance with the RIM on older Mt models, particularly the Spyder series.

There is a rim dept/offset measurement, that MUST be adhered to. If you don't there are 2 things that could happen, Offset too shallow tire rubbing the inside of the fender, or Offset to deep and Tire rubbing the shock tower. That rim offset is CRITICAL.

This is not some hearsay anecdotal story, this is from ACTUAL experience.

I put a set of Kellys on mine last year.
Running 24 psi and rides is nice and smooth
MPA reversed on the front at 41 psi

My MT was vibrating and the original chrome wheels were rusting, so I picked up some mags and put some cheap Fisk tires from Discount Tire on it. 215/65-15. I rides much smoother and quieter than the BFGs that came on it, but I thing the cornering suffered a little. Got the BFGs balanced and am going to put them back on.

I have Michelin Hydro Edge on my 2004 Goldwing 1800 with a champion kit and these ride very smooth and handle great in rain. I have over 10,000 miles on them and they look new. As far as noise, none!

You may find that that Michelin has stopped making them but Walmart still has the size to fit trikes.

As Pizza man I have a MPA on the front reversed at 41#.
