I am not up for springing for the cost of a new GW Trike. And the used ones seem to hold their value really well (not that big a savings over new), SO, is there any significant savings to be had by buying a good used GW (2 wheel) and triking it with a new kit? Or, does it all wash out in the end?

About how much labor $$ is there in installing a trike kit?

I took a 2004 Wing, triked it out for 13 K total, and doubled the value of the vehicle. Don't try to install yourself unless you are REALLY good at it. A good installer is essential. You don't need to spend 40K and a new Wing and a trike kit. You can spend 26-30 and get a good trike Wing

After looking for months, I bought a few weeks ago a 2005 Goldwing trike, Champion kit and 11,000 miles, with about $2,500 in accessories for $20,000. I'm still in sticker shock, although people say I got a good deal. I looked at new, at converting a used GW, and used. They are all expensive. For me, used turned out to be the best value, if you can find one that you like.

Woody, like it has been said, yes you can take a used bike and put a new kit on it doubling the value and it's usually the least expensive way to go. Once you do that you will have a trike that should last you a long time. These Gold Wings last 300000miles or more with regular maintenance. Good luck, ride safe.

About four years ago I found a 2006 GW with all available options except air bag, 10K miles, $14K. Bought it. Two years later triked it with Roadsmith for $15K, including labor which ran about $1,500. Best vehicular investment I ever made! Look around and don't be in a rush - the good deals are out there.

Personally, I would look for a good used trike. There are some really good deals out there from individuals. I have two friends that have recently found good deals.

I bought an '06 bike but didn't plan on triking it at the time. As the need arose I figured I was better off triking my bike rather than looking for a different rig already triked. Just depends on your wants and money.

You should be able to get into a GW trike for under $20,000 if you are thinking $13,000 or less for a gold wing than you are looking at a high mileage 1500 ( 1999 or older )
Nothing wrong with the 1500 in good shape. I sold a 1996 with 46,000 miles for $13,000 last year and we sold a 2003 GW , yellow with 6,000 miles on it with matching Bushtec trailer in October for $19,000. They are out ther if u have time to look.
