doe's a 97 valkyrie have a fuel pump or is it gravity feed

it's gravity feed..unless you have an R&M works belly tank under it..then it would have a fuel pump.

Thank's LR that help's. got to be problem with fuel line somewhere, no gas to the carb's but can make it run with spray in air cleaner. petcock ok. will let ya know what I find when I get time to get back to it .

If memory serves me correctly, the 1500's used a vacuum valve to open the fuel flow from the tank. I would check the valve and vacuum hoses.

MH you are right it doe's work on vaccum we have already checked that an all is good . It is something between the petcock and the carb's. Could be fuel filter or blocked fuel line. Will get to all that at a later date when I get the time off from work in the evening. Hard to do after working all day. Thank's for all the help.

and you tested this petcock HOW?<br />
if you were to remove the fuel line and attach a line to the petcock and run it into a container, then apply vacuum to the vacuum line coming off # 6 carburator. then you would see if it's supplying fuel. if not then your going to need a cover set. which is part #. 16953-MBZ-B51. just keep in mind how you tear it apart. it can go back togather a couple different ways. <br />
Also if you've added a fuel filter inline you could have a kinked fuel line.<br />
those that have installed quick disconects in there fuel lines have also reported problems.<br />

my bet is a torn diaphram in the petcock..no vacuum equals no fuel.

3w We have already put vacuum to the petcock an the fuel flowed no problem there got to be kink or something simple will check thank's

ok..just did'nt want you tearing into it any further than you had to..
only time iv'e ever seen fuel delivery problems past the petcock is when some one puts on a new fuel line and makes it longer than original, to make it easier to connect and disconnect. then when they re-install the tank the fuel line kinks or there becomes a bend and the fuel line dips lower than the carb inlets. not allowing fuel to get up to the carbs because of it being gravity feed.

keep another thing in mind..if and when you do remove and re-install the tank. make sure the tank vent line that connects to the rear of the tank does not get kinked. if it does it creates a vacuum in the tank. you'll run for a couple of miles and it will act like your running out of fuel.

Ethanol might have ate up the fuel line and let it collapse. It’s leaving a lot of boats stranded around here.
