    Question Weather is heating up. Just wondering,,.

    There's an interesting thread on another GoldWing forum regarding what temperature do you begin to question whether or not your going to ride the bike.

    My answer was the following;
    ---
    For me, 85 is my absolute limit. (I prefer under 80!) I never had a tolerance for the hot weather. I do more riding in the Fall, Winter & Spring than I do all summer. I can always put more clothing on in the cold weather to get comfortable. When it's hot, there's only so much you can take off and that usually means in my case, I'm not wearing the protective clothing I should have on.
    ---
    Just curious to see what others on the trike side have to say.

    I agree. I hate sweating my a** off while I'm riding.

    80 is just about my limit. Conn is a non helmet state...every state that surrounds it is a helmet state. Sooooo if you want to leave Conn you need a helmet. I ride both 2 and 3 wheel motorcycles, if I am on 2 or 3 I wear some sort of protection..( never tank top or flip flops or no helmet or shorts etc.) we rode 100 miles last week end and it was 87. Got home and it might as well have been raining. BTW prefer rain to heat. We were soaking wet. Last 10 miles we took off denim jackets to cool down. Low temp for riding is 34 deg. Best temp is 60.
    When I am gona fix something I will fix it. You don't have to bug me every 6 months.

    I ride Year round with Gear...8 degrees to 103 degrees (where Our Temps fall)....Gear (Jackets, Boots, Helmets, Pants, Gloves) need to be chosen carefully. There is Gear available now to get You through a full year of "reasonable" comfort while on a Motorcycle..."Getting Out There" seems to eventually "acclimate" You to the Temps.....

    I ride year around. I can take the cold as long as it isn't raining and I can take the heat as long as I am moving. That said I usually try to avoid traffic if the temps are above 90 and rain if the temps are below 40. Other than that, give me some road and I am good to go!!!

    When in the driver seat, I'm in my glory and don't think much about temps. I do concern myself with Jeannette's comfort.

    I'm a fair weather rider these days. Below 40 something, above 80 something and sunny, and rain. Trike stays parked. Been there, done it, all in the past. Don't have to do it anymore.

    Because of my disability, I respond poorly to heat and humidity. To help me ride in warm weather, I ditched the leather vest in favor of a TourMaster Intake 3 jacket. I wear a CoolVest underneath when temps are above 85 degrees. I also have a Super Seer helmet liner to cool my noggin under the helmet. This combination has made riding in heat something I can do, and I'm really pleased about the outcome.

    Living in FL and summer riding is a challenge if you can't tolerate heat and humidity. If I'm riding over 2 hours here, I'm usually in LD Comforts, long ride for a summer break, long weekend, definitely LD Comforts.

    I just received my Super Seer helmet. Talk about a "cool" helmet! I've never had a helmet that has such a great cooling air flow! And it looks cool as well, lol.

    When I was a lot younger. I rode in every kind of weather. rain even snow or cold. But now I pick the days I want to ride in. One yr a bunch of us met at my house to travel down to Fla for Bike week. This is when I lived in Romulus, Michigan. we never figured it was going to get that cold. The morning of the trip. It was - 4 degrees. All the women rode in the Mini Van with the luggage. While all the guys rode theirs bike. The 1st exit we made was a rest area about 10 miles from my house. Everybody hit the hand warmers. Gloves and boots were under them trying to get warm! Then made it into Ohio to get a bite to eat. talk about turning some heads when we walked in WOW! Someone paid for our coffee . I think we sat there for about 2 hours before we got back on. After we got out of Ohio it warmed up to the mid 40's and we were good to go. I got caught in the snow once at work. Working over nights. The security guard over to me and told me. man its snowing a lot out there! So at 8 am when I got off. Two of my friends helped me get it to the street. I followed a school bus tracks to the freeway. Then that was just wet. Then turned on to my street and luckily another school bus had been down the rd. MY wife was standing in the driveway watching me. When I tried to stop in the garage I stopped with in 2 inches of my work bench . Needless to say that was my last winter ride that yr.

    If it is to hot, I wear my cooling vest that I use under my Santa Suit. For cold I have heated gear. that said I will only winter ride at 35 plus. Black ice and all. Summer well just about anything depending where I am riding to. If I have a planed ride/trip and it is raining I go, but if it is just to ride then I drive.

    Bill,

    I got the custom painted half helmet specifically for warm weather riding. I had it painted the same color as my trike with a decal of my old Coast Guard 'Port Security' emblem placed under the clear coat above the visor. It is a bit expensive, but once I tried it on and saw how much cooler this helmet was as compared to the others I have, it was well worth the price! Here's a link;

    If it wasn't for snow, ice and salt I would be riding year round. I've been in temps from 29 degrees to almost 100, the cold doesn't bother me but the humidity is a real drag. I'd take a 110 degree day with low humidity over 95 degrees with 75% humidity which makes everything feel sticky and damp.

    I prefer temps of 75-100. Heat doesn't bother me unless it gets REAL hot. Out West I do fine until about 110 and then remember, that is in the shade and I"m riding in the sun. I don't enjoy riding much under 70 although I do it quite a lot. If I didn't ride above 80 I'd miss 3/4 of the Summer here in Southern Ohio
