New 2009 RSV Trike Coming

I pulled the trigger Friday and sent the check to convert my Venture to a trike with a Hannigan Kit... Bergren I hope you don't mind but it will look like your less white walls... The one thing I didn't know was that was a special paint job but Coach said he could do it... Got everything except the extra gas tank and can't wait for Hannigan to come out with a bumper... I look at a 1800 Goldwing that a guy picked up Tuesday with a Hannigan Kit with the New Chrome Bumper it looks Great....

Just my opinion, but you really should get the auxiliary gas tank!!

I know I've thought about it a lot but the guys I ride with have to stop for fuel every 150 to 170 miles... Besides that gave me more mad money to do all the new Chrome accessory I want... LOL

You're gonna LOVE it! I would go with Larry, Carbon One's tank myself IMHO but that's just me. Have fun adding bling and personalizing it!

Another 09 trike here & loving it as well. Sorry to say you'll be lucky to get 150 miles on a standard gas tank. You'll probably be down to the last bar on the gauge and less than a gallon of gas left at the 150 mark. Running hard, pulling a trailer two up , or riding in mountainous areas will effect it even more.

Coach Rice built our '08 RSV Hannigan, I can't say anything bad about it, they did a great job.
We put one of Carbon One's aux. fuel tanks in and it has been working perfect.

You'll love the trike.

I know Larry I've kicked it around about the spare gas tank... I just can't let go of that kind of money for a 5.5 gal gas tank... Besides I've been having my girlfriend push the hay wagon in the barn yard just in case I would run out I believe she should be in shape when my Trike comes back...

Midnight, Congrats on your new conversion. You are correct about the colours on my trike - they are custom. I'm assuming you are going with the running boards on yours. That's a must - because on long trips you can put your feet on them so comfortable and in a few different position. As for the AUX gas tank - you'll be sorry that you didn't get it. It's not about you riding and needing the gas - it's less gas stop even if you just stop at a rest area. Last week going to Belton, Texas (About 140 miles) I made it for the first time down there without the gas light coming on. That was due to no winds.

If you are going to run 70 mph and above you'll get about 25 to 28 mpg. The best I got running between 65 and 70 is 30 mph. (of course without the winds) If it's windy the mileage drops a lot. So the AUX tank will come in handy at those times. Especially if you are going to pull a trailer.

For the first time since I had the trike - I was told if I turn the gas handle to off - the gas is pumped from the AUX first. I didn't know that. On my return trip home from Eureka Springs, I tried it - and it does work. I only didn't it for about a hundred miles.

The problem with that is I'm use to watching the gas hand move. I thought I was getting great gas mileage until I realized I was running from the AUX tank.

Anyway, just wanted to give you some info about the AUX tank. If you don't purchase it you will still enjoy the trike. I very seldom use the AUX anyway. Only in unfamiliar places I may have to travel. That's where it come in handy. God Bless you on your new toy.

I get from 130 to 160 on a tank depending, and it's rare that when I've been on a ride a bunch of others have to fuel up also. Yes it would be nice togo further but as of yet it hasn't been an inconvenience. I needed a stretch anyway.

Thanks for the advic.... Yes I'm getting running boards, When its all done it should look like yours less white wall tires and I have a luggage rack on mind... The first time I saw your I know that's what I wanted.... I guess I need to rethink the aux gas tank...

My aux tank set up is a bit different than Hannigan's in regards to the delivery system. Its totally independent of the main tank, which gets shut off electrically when the auxiliary tank is in use. I normally run on the auxiliary tank till its empty then switch to the main. From there its easy to track fuel usage watching the gauge. Don't have a fuel gauge on the aux tank yet but may be adding one in next winter. I didn't have much time this past winter to research this option.

Midnight, you only live once. I was in the same boat like you. Deciding if I should get the Aux tank and floor boards. The mechanic who worked on my bike told me that it would look much nicer with the boards - and I'll be sorry if I didn't get the AUX. You know something - he was right.

I was looking at the expense and I said I can't take it with me. So, if you decide to get it or not just enjoy yourself. Put 100K plus on it. When we are gone - somebody else will enjoy it. God Bless!
