anybody know the reason that a TV cool guy bike rider in Milwaulkee, was on a triumph??? Dont get me wrong, i love Triumphs, but i cant imagine why the Fonz didnt have a Harley. Maybe it was a financial thing.
Anyone got an answer or a wild guess??

I can't say I know, but 4 guesses would be 1) Harley didn't want to pay for product placement, 2) Maybe Henry Winkler was just learning to ride and couldn't handle a larger bike, or 3) They thought a smaller bike looked friendlier for the cameras and character or even 4) The Fonz was a wussy. Probably not that last ne since I still make jokes involving hitting machines to get them to work.

According to the “King of Cool” himself, “The Fonz” (Henry Winkler) never actually rode any motorcycles during the ten year Happy Days television run. Winkler, never rode a bike in real life either, he has dyslexia, which made it difficult for him to co-ordinate the clutch, throttle and brake. Instead, the bikes (Harley Davidson’s, Triumph’s, BSA’s were used) were mounted on a piece of wood with wheels to make it look like he was riding, even though I am not shocked, I am a little disappointed. You can watch the interview with Winkler, the famous motorcycle jump “The Fonz” made over 14 trashcans and a bonus “Jump the Shark” video after the jump. Go to YouTube it's there.

The series got more inane and unrealistic as it went on. the Fonz was just one of the cast of characters in the beginning - a hood on a Panhead, and he wore a blue/gray windbreaker in the early episodes.
As the show wore on he bacame Fonzie and changed from the Chino type, (Lee Marvin's character in The Wild One) a 24/7/365 type of biker to Johnny (Marlin Brando's character) who, if you analyze it, seems to be a working guy during the week that put on the leather jacket, dons an attitude and cuts loose on the weekends.
Things got more and more ludicris as time went on. Didn't Potsie and Ralph's family ever take them on vacation? Along with Fonzie, they always seemed to be off with the Cunninghams.

Oh - and whatever happend to Chet?
