O J Miles - now riding "Lucille", a 2017 Spyder F3-Ltd. Roadster.
When 2 wheels aren't enough and 4 are too many.
Ahhhh, a hot cup of coffee and a good cigar, after a good ride.......
A Wee Story To Tell
This is the story of how a beautiful trike (in my opinion) was created. It started with a Virago 750 (pic 1) and a woman who thought she was still a teenager. The woman customised the Virago using her favourite colours, chrome and black. She rode the bike almost every day but after about 6 months or so she started dropping the bike when turning corners owing to a health problem (dodgy hips). Not wanting to get rid of the bike she decided to have it triked (pic 2). When the new back end had been fitted she was told by the company that was building the trike that the little fuel tank of the Virago would not cope with the extra weight of the rear axle. This problem was solved by putting a larger tank at the front (pic 3) and a reserve fuel tank at the back. Unfortunately this made the front end of the trike look wrong. A better set of forks were needed. So it came to pass that a new set of forks were fitted (pic 4). Bigger discs were fitted at the front and rear of the trike (pics 4 & 5).
This gave the trike plenty of stopping power. Then came the turn of the engine. It was tuned and then painted black to fit in with the look of the trike (pics 6 & 7). The bodywork was next, the black theme was kept, but, to show that a lot of the trike was now Harley Davidson, the 100 year celebration decor from the Harley stables was used (pic 8). Leather luggage was then fitted to finish the touring look (pic 9). Another bad move the leather luggage although Dubbin'd regularly did not survive the first Scottish Winter. A Givi topbox was fitted (pic 10) along with a passenger armrest and a rack above the front lights. The final result (pics 11 & 12) is still very pleasing to the eye (if you like that sort of thing).
I have sold this trike and bought a Piaggio MP3
