While heading out to Rocky Mountain National Park from the East coast I stopped in Elk Grove Village, IL to pick up my new Aspen Classic camper. The trailer seems to handle very nicely while cooking along at 75-85 MPH. According to the computer I’m now down to 25-28 MPG but I don’t know how accurate the BC is and will verify this on the return trip. The temp gage is also running a bit above normal but with all that added weight and higher ambient temps I guess it’s not too bad. Although when I headed up into the mountains in route to Estes Park, CO the temp gage was maxed out and it stayed that way until going downhill. I just kept pushing it as there were very few places to pull over and I had to make my destination before night time. The fans were running full bore but to no avail. I also kept the RPM’s between 4-5 grand so it wasn’t lugging but you could hear she was really straining. Hopefully I didn’t do any long term damage and I still have to get the camper out from here and back home. I guess I’ll have to wait and see just how tough these BMW engines are built………….
