What causes the 1800 hundred's to heat up and possible fix
I thought only Harleys had a heat problem???
It goes up to the red line and I have to pull over and let it cool down.
A few more details might make it easier for someone to get you headed in the right direction. How long does it take to heat up? Does it do it all the time and speeds? Even could be a bad gage.
More info, such as model year and mileage. During normal riding you shouldn't have a heat problem, slow moving traffic or just slow moving period is a whole different issue. Last week while riding through heavy traffic and high 80 degree ambient temps in Pigeon Forge my 2012 GL1800 would start getting warmer than normal if I ran 20 mph, let me get below 20 to where the fans would kick on I would see the temp return to normal. FWIW my buddy and my dad both riding Harleys were looking to get stopped so they could cool them down, I was good to go.
This is the 1st time I've been in stop and go traffic with a something other than a Harley, I was quite happy to not have a care in the world about engine heat.

Red Ultra Powered By Head-Quarters 120, Easy Clutch Pull By ClutchWIZ. 2012 GL1800 Hannigan. I've yet to ride a stock Harley which wasn't in need of a mechanical intervention.
Got it fixed, the left fan was running backwards.
Thanks

Curious about that myself??? I've been going back 400 out of 1400 pages of threads on gl1800 forum and I've never seen that about cooling fan running backwards wow
