    Default Wing pulling Aspen camper

Well last week was a 1st for us. 1st time pulling a camper and 1st setting up a Aspen classic camper and spending 4 nights in it. The Wing pulled just fine with some loss of fuel milage think we dropped down to a average of 30mpg and of course the passing power suffered a little as well. The camper was a easy up easy down so not much work to it. We did sleep very well and the AC unit worked much better than I expected in fact it got cold a couple nights which required us to turn the tempature up some. We did not think a tent camper would hold the cool as well as it did. Over all we had a good restfull camp out , with the exception of Pat stoving her thumb which required a few x rays at the local urgent care and some unwanted pain for her. I do recomend the Aspen line as one of the best if camping is something you might like to do.

We and a few folks we camp with every year at the Davis Rally have a Bunkhouse, a few others in the group have Aspens. Fine campers both of them. The biggest difference seems to be the Aspen has it's poles on the inside, and the Bunkhouse has the poles on the outside. You'll have many memorable times in your little rolling home in the road.

Just bought an aspen from a friend that needed some cash. We pulled a kwik kamp over 200,000 miles and enjoyed it. Now that my wife doesn't ride anymore and I'm by myself I'm looking forward to using the Aspen. 2005 GW trike

I'm curious what the Wing engine temperatures were running hauling your camper. I have a BMW K1200LT pulling my Aspen Classic and the engine temp was quite high when hauling it uphill while in Estes Park, Colorado. The ambient temperature was also up there running at 90 plus degrees so I'm just trying to get some kind of comparison.

Hi Bill, After reading your comments about an AC unit in your camper I was hoping you would answer a couple of questions?
I have a Mini Mate camper that I want to put AC in, what size & brand AC unit do you use? Do you use a small gas generator when there is no elec hookup to run your AC and if so what size & brand generator?
Thanks for any info you can give me. Tom

The AC is a $99.00 5,000 BTU 115 volts AC . Unit is a cheap window unit from Lowles but it is what Aspen recomends. Yes a small generator can be used for power , however we just pluged into the camps power. The unit sits on a small milk crate and is tied into the camper by a draw cord. If you go to the Aspen site you will see how this unit is set up. Other builders differ slightly but for the most part they are all about the same with the exception of Lee Ur Lite. For heat we use a small box heater again 5,000 BTU , just be very carefull using any heater, the one we use has a auto shut of if tipped.

Thanks for the info Bill, that's what I was looking for. I was thinking the camper would need a 7000 or larger for the A/C, but glad the smaller unit works fine plus it saves money & weight. Glad you mentioned the heater, I hadn't thought about that with the temps we been getting. Now all I need to do is figure how small of a generator to use, got to keep the weight down.
