Harley Sportster trike conversion, inaccurate speedo

Hi all, I have a newly converted 883 Sportster Super Low, built from a brand new bike in April. I've discovered that the speedo reading is inaccurate by about 15mph when riding at speeds of up to 70mph. It registers about 60 when I'm really doing over 70 as proved by my wife when I overtook her in the car yesterday...!!! The local dealership say it's because of the conversion, using bigger rear wheels and also having it changed to a chain drive from belt. The speedo sensor is in the gearbox. Any ideas on how to rectify this would be gratefully appreciated....thanks.

If it's an electronic system you can get an item called a speedohealer. You install it in the wiring harness connector that goes from the output of the sensor to the input of the speedo. I have one on my trike for exactly that reason. You adjust it to take out the error in the speedo readout.

I have a brand new speedometer corrector that will plug right into your 883 as long as it has the electronic speedo which it should. This unit fits all Sportsters from 05 to present. I bought it for my wife's Sporty and she traded to Tri Glide before I installed it. Sells new for $100 plus shipping. I'd sell it for $50 shipping included. PM me if interested.
