roadsmith triple tree

I have a Valkyrie Interstate with Motor trike kit but the triple tree is a roadsmith. On a recent trip the triple tree housing failed. The roadsmith tree bolts into a blind hole in the upper tree secured by a grub screw near the bolt head in the lower tree. The bolt had been slowly working out and the lower tree crept down the forks as it loosened so there was no indication of the imminent failure. just a heads up about this setup check the bolt tension!

Good advice. Reading other posts like yours, we all learn from others misfortune.

I've only had my 2009 Lehman Raider 8 months, but I printed out 'MONTHLY' and '1K MILE' lists (bolts to re-torque, grease the belt drive, fluids, etc.) as well as the Harley-Davidson Maintenance Schedule (and V-star) in the Repair Manuals.

With multiple motorcycles in my garage, plus 2 cars and a home emergency generator (V-twin Briggs & Stratton 1 liter engine) if I didn't follow my maintenance lists, I'd be afraid I'd miss something important (or expensive :blush:.)
