Gel Battery

With the spring getting ready to be sprung, I will be putting a new battery in my 95 1500 gl trike. Wondering about thoughts on a gel cell or led acid battery. I have all the standard options (lights radios etc) and a few extras such as rail lights, ring of fire.

The price appears double for the battery, and the warranty is 3 yr with no pro-rating (if it goes bad they just replace it).

Let me know some experiences....Thanks

Docb, hello, that is pretty much of a no brainer for me..... led acid u have to check on and fill up-----gel no maintance required. Plus I have replaced the alternator so I need the gel. Good luck which ever way U go.

Hi docb, I've got some friends in our GWRRA chapter here that run the "real" gel-cell, <solid> type batteries. They switched over to them when they installed Compufire alternators. I never bought a Compufire for my 1500 so I always used a good sealed type battery. If you plan to upgrade the alternator and add more lights ect. It may be worth looking into. Good luck with it and welcome aboard...:)

i really prefer the gell batt. you dont have to worry about checkin the water level, i also have the compu fire alt. on my 1500 but just in case i have an extra battery in the trunk of my champion with a disconnect switch, i had a problem with a lead acid battery before so the second is a just in case, if i had a battery go down just open the trunk flip the switch and presto we're up and running again
