Jack point for valkyrie trike

Need to jack up trike to install rake kit. Local Honda dealer was reluctant to say it was ok to support the front end of the trike via the bottom crankcase cover/oil sump. What's your take? It looks more than robust enough to me. What have you done? I've also noticed that when you mention trike, dealers are no longer interested in talking. Even had this problem with a dealer that was listed as CSC dealer! Need a quick answer; ready to get started. Thanks in advance for your input.

My question is whether it's ok to lift agaainst the engine pan or do I have to lift against the frame?

I did my own rake kit. Just used a motorcycle jack under the motor, with 2x4's between the jack & motor to give clearance for the pipes. No problems.

If it was me I would use a 2x4 or 2x6 on top of the jack against the frame. I would think the case could crack from the weight of trike on such a small area of support. make sure the both back wheels are blocked tight to prevent any roll back.

Using 2x4s will work but not the best thing.<br />
Whatever you d end up doing don't just use a plain jack under the engine with out something to give it some sort of support.<br />
The casing isn't that strong at all really.<br />

Since I sold my bike. but still have my cradle.
I can send it to you for the cost of shipping only.
But
I cant take care of that till next weekend.
Maybe this Saturday.......
I have to take the trike in tomorrow for a checkup and I have a 200 mile round trip to do it.

Just PM me your addy and I will get it to you asap on my side.

Good chance the shipping would be more then the cost of the wood to make it though.

Tubal, I have lifted the front of my Interstate Trike many times with a regular floor jack under the engine. Not saying it is right or recommended, just that I have done it. Stan
