Burning rubber

Is it common to smell the rear tires burning rubber going around turns? I do know you can spin tires from a stand still making a left or right turn and while fully accelerating, but I have been noticing the the smell of the rear tires when I pull out at a normal speed. I also noticed it yesterday while doing 30 mph around a turn. Could this be happening because of the way the differential is designed ? Rear tire pressure is 25 psi and air suspension is set at 40 with two up. It seems that I have been smelling the tires just about every time I make a turn from a stop sign. I dont want to buy tires prematurely.
Or am i just having too much fun ?

This one has got to b a first !!!! I wonder if you might have a small anti-freeze leak (which I have had) by the vent line located at the cap in the trunk ?? My minor leak smelled like you explain and drove me crazy until it was found. Didn't leave any puddle on the floor so it took awhile to find.
"Bark" ,"heavy acceleration", "floored" every time I try ANY of that on my wife's trike I get a sudden splitting headache. Sometimes she whacks me hard enough to put a lump on my helmet.

I found out where the Burning rubber smell was coming from. My front tire was rubbing on my shock while making a left hand turn then move away when I pointed the wheel forward. I couldnt find it untill it wore a groove in my tire. I found the axle nut was loose. do to the bearing being bad.

I called my dealer to find out about what I needed and to get a price on the parts to repair my front wheel. Mike called me back the next day.He called TMS.He informed me that even though my bike was out of warrenty (over three years old)TMS was going to pay for the parts and free shipping Because my bike only had 10,000 miles on it. Wow you can't beat that kind of service.

I just wanted to give a ThumbUp to CYCLE AND TRIKES OF FREDRICK MD and TMS

You did not indicate which parts they were going to replace. My wife's trike as well as a friend here in the city both had problems with the wheel bearings as well as wearing a groove in the swing arms. Turned out it was a problem with the down tubes. Both bikes were taken to the factory and all parts were replaced as well as all newer modifications being installed since it was produced. Ours like yours was out of warranty and TMS stood behind the parts and the labor. I also have a 2010 GL1800 with a MotorTrike kit and have found the company to be very responsive and supportive in solving any problems that we may have encountered.

They replaced the whole hub bearing assembly that bolted to the front wheel including the black plate that the reflecter is on. They also gave me bearings for the down tubes.

You might want to monitor closely. It was my understanding at the factory that the down tubes in the wife's 2010 had a wrong angle which was causing the problem with the swing arms, etc., and that is why they were replaced.
