Have all Tri-Glides since '09 had steering dampeners?

I checked out the '14 Tri-Glide and straight away noticed its steering dampener. Have they all come with one since '09? It looked somewhat, don't wanna say ugly.. but out of place, kind of cheapened it, IMO. Maybe it needs to be hard chromed and stylized?

My 11 came with one, Can't tell you how many people would ask what is that thing for, I kinda like it because it works, And also a few times when i was parked somewhere two nimrods would walk up to the Tri look at it and then have a discussion with each other as to what is that. Makes for some interesting comments...

Ditto on the strange comments overheard...One guy at a gas station asked me "Where do you put the key to lock that steering lock?"

I told him it used a wireless remote.

They've had them since day one, for the cost $500 they may as well have chromed them also.

My '10 TG has it. With 65k on it, thinking of swapping for an adjustable one. Original might be getting a tad worn.

It's between the forks and front frame, silver, looks like a screen door closer. Helps smooth out the wobble.

(As many of you know) I ride a V-Rod trike and don't have one of those steering dampener's on it. I asked my guy who built my trike originally if I should have one. He said "no, big Harleys don't even need them." He even showed me that he had a Triglide that he was changing the oil on that the owner had him remove the damper. The rider of the Triglide Was there and told me that once he took the dampener off the trike it rode much nicer. He said it's something Harley puts on just to appease the insurance safety people but it's pretty much an overkill that doesn't make a difference.

I took the damper off my TG cause I was thinking of putting an EG lower deflectors. Tried it for about 20 miles. It handled fine except on decel. The handlebar shake was WICKED.

Your not the 1st to learn that, a couple years back a member on another forum had his fail. He said it was evil and he wasn't happy with the way it handled and was very much relieved when he got it replaced.

Sorry folks, you've all got it wrong. It is the steering actuator that is controlled by the eye reader chip in the infotainment center so that when on a long ride and your arms just need a rest you activate it by pushing the turfing button twice. Then you can sit back, fold your arms and steer just by looking in the direction you want to go. Just be sure you don't fall asleep because if your eyes close, the reader won't work. So there!
