    Default Floorboards. Yes or No.

I searched the forum threads but did not find anything, so I'm asking -- LT Hannigan: Do you have/like the Hannigan weight bearing floorboards? Do they get in the way of foot placements for passenger boarding? Nearly Two large for a set -- do they give back $2000 of benefits?

When I bought my Tri Glide I did check into a set of floor boards like your talking about for it. I can't remember who makes them right now but I didn't feel the cost was worth the benefit for me.

I have load bearing floor boards on my 02 GL 1800 Hannigan and I love them.
First, I can ride in the rain and stay dry doing 50+mph with a tall windshield. I have plowed water and my floor boards deflected most of the water.
I believe tall people will like them on the Goldwings because you can remove the foot pegs and use the floor boards for added leg length.
The best way is to try a trike with boards and see if they are for you.

    Regards,

    Rosy

    I have them on my '09 LT/Hannigan.

When I first got this trike, I noticed the floorboards stopped the impulse to put my feet on the ground when stopped. Don't even think about it now.

Like Rosy said, they do help keep the water off your feet in wet weather, but not a real selling point. I always use the pegs when mounting and tell passengers to use the pegs, so no advantage there.

I guess they do keep down the amount of road dust & debris hitting feet and legs for rider and passenger. And on long rides, they do provide an alternate resting spot for the feet.

So, are they worth the extra cost? I probably wouldn't pay for floorboards but I like the overall look of the bike with them and have no intention on removing them now.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I'm in decision mode. I'll put my 99LT in the shop this week for conversion over the long cold winter in Wisconsin. I'm trying to avoid mistakes due to ignorance of issues that are unfamiliar to me. I've ridden the LT since new, and have had a HD sidecar rig, but never a trike.

I have the Lehman Floorboards on my Tri Glide and I love them......they were costly but I love the finished look it gives to the trike and the added protection from rain and road debrie has been well worth it to me

Ditto on my Wing , only issue is they are very low to the ground and can and do scrape , oil change also a problem (can't get the pan under them )

A little bit late but my 2 cents. My wife likes the floorboards and would like to have them on our trike. I like the functionality of the boards but I don't like the roar/noise that comes with the boards. That fiberglass enclosure with the boards seems a lot noisier to me than kits without the boards.

I have a Roadsmith unit with their Wing-Guards (floor boards) and mine don't make any noise at all. Maybe it's just the design of different manufacturers.

I have the Lehman running boards and I feel that they help to block some of the road noise, especially from my rear tires.

Red face Re: Floorboards. Yes or No.

Have Hannigan floorboards on my trike, but I went for all the options except chrome wheels and aux tank. My wife uses the floorboards for mounting the bike, keeps your feet warmer in the cold, but warmer in the summer. Costly but definitely adds to the looks, and keeps your feet dry. Best option is wide front tire assembly if it is available for your model bike. Only 1K more than their regular rake kit, and provides greater stability and the tires should last much, much longer. believe you will love your Hannigan conversion, best quality. Are you going to retain the flame paint theme on the trike?

Really late but, for others that may be considering. I have the foot fairings and took the OEM pegs off a long time ago.
I enjoy being able to rest my feet on the boards and being able to move them around. No more feet behind the knees riding position!
The penalty paid for this, on the Wings, is the boards must be loosened or removed to remove the lower cowl! Small price to pay for being much more comfortable while riding.
No problem shifting and I put a heel rest from Kury on the brake side!

Yes, but the Hannigan body is painted to match the base coat only, I won't add flames to it. The base coat is a VERY dark blue with pearl/silver metal flake -- actually black with blue and pearl metalflake added.

I had the bottom of my floorboards sprayed with LineX also under the fenders and main trike body while I had it apart during the rebuild.
Made a big difference with road noise. A lot more quiet now.

I owned a K12LT Hannigan without floor boards and a RoadSmith with them. I would not buy floorboards again. They make servicing more difficult, add weight and good boots do more to keep my feet dry.
