It's more on how much do you want it .... or how bad do you want to sell it.

Dave I'm not surprised at those prices. We only paid $30 for MJ's early production "08" and $31 for her end of the "08" replacement new. 26 k to 27 k that's about a 13% depreciation on a almost 2 year old vehicle and 10% on a 6 month to 9 month old. The first production started delivery in December of 07.

</div>Actually those prices are higher than I would have thought. Stuff depreciates!
Understand that, I just thought the example prices were lower than I expected they would be. Of course, I have not followed the Stallion either. If the Stallion owners here are pretty much satisfied, that's good enough for me.

Dave not satisfied but supply and demand. It is what it is.

Ted, so true!
"Beer is Proof that God loves us and wants us to have a good time."
I believe Kelly Blue Book is not accurate. If you look at NADA they list a more accurate response that the "Stallion is a limited resale market and they are unable to determine a used value".
KBB might be ok for CAR resale but not for bikes. I bought my Trike for $17,000 9 years ago so if we lost 10% a year I would only get $8.000 for it now. (Just did simple math guys/gals not compound and it is almost an educated guess at that so don't flame me , I am only making a point. ) If I put my trike on the market for $11,000 the phone would ring off the hook agree or not? Take a Harley FAT Boy ( I just picked that because I know a guy that just bought one.) He paid $11,000 for a 1997) right next to it was a Victory 2002 same miles 12,000 miles same pristine condition. I think my friend got a deal . The Victory was selling for $7,000 all about desire & market . The Victory 8 ball sold for the same price the Harley did when it was new.

</div>KBB, NADA,etc, report based on data in their possession. In the instance under discussion, it appears that either KBB has received more data on Stallion resales (for the year and model in question), or that it requires fewer data points on which it will make projections. Typically KBB reports lower prices than NADA hence many resellers try to buy using KBB prices and to sell using NADA prices.

The newer the resale the greater the hit it typically takes. A 25 to 35% discount is not unusual for a vehicle one year old or less another 15 to 20% in each of the next two or three years. After 5 years depreciation is typically negligible, all other things equal. I agree with John that demand is the most important factor in actual transaction prices. I think it important to note that most aftermarket accessories typically add very little to the value of a used vehicle.
Agreed. Options that are available on the model in the given year ( ABS , CB, Nav. heated grips etc.) ,if not on your bike could decrease the value. Just like looking at a car with no air conditioning. But some added items such as chrome can be a + or - as if they don't like or do like your art work If they do or don't like chrome. Some people like plain stock. Popularity of a given brand is also afactor. I also agree BBB has no idea of popularity they can only tell buy vol of used sold and the history. As Ben stated it takes a few years to see how this plays out. I just saw a gorgeous Ridley Chopper for sale for less than 1/2 price . It was a 2006 with 200 miles on it New $18,000 used $7,000. People just never jumped on them. I own an SVX great car still has a following and 1992 are selling for $5,000 to $7,000 . When they were new dealers had to discount them to move them they didn't even make them for one year and sold 94 as 95s . People just could not by the fact that a Subaru could be worth $21,000 in 1992
