car tire

As a darksider.
If you could find something to fit the stock rim which is slim to none.
The OEM rim is too thin.
It would be very difficult to steer.
Straight line might be pretty good though.

Darksiders run a car tire on the rear of 2 wheel Goldwings and other bikes all the time. Wide flat tire, said to have a lot longer wear, less initial cost, and better gription both wet and dry. The ones I know say there is not problem at all running the twisty roads here in the Ozarks. Unfortunatly there aren't any tires in the U.S. market that are narrow enough for the front GW suspension.
A while ago Avon asked on this forum about a trike tire with a wider flatter profile for the front, seemed it would be like a narrow car tire. Don't think anything came of it as we haven't heard any more about it.

If you can find the right size rear m/c tire you can mount it on the front in reverse and it will give you good grip, control and longer wear.
I use this on my V star 1100 trike and have taken a 4000 mile trip in two weeks with no problems an very little sine of wear.

well okie dokie then ill get another mpa
THANKS YALL

Putting a bike rear on the front is the way to go 2 wheels or 3.
A car tire on the front of a trike is just wishful thinking out loud.
The MPA or a BattleAx is the right move.
No more then 1 size up though.
In most cases go with the original size but with a wider profile.
If the OEM front is a 90 series try and find an 80 or 70 series with the 80 being preferable.
If the front is a 130, a 140 will be OK.
Bigger isn't always better.
Just my 2 cents.
GW trike has a MPA front.
Yamaha RoadStar has a Kendra.
Ive found over the years, when using a rear tire on the front.
Brand has had no bearing on my mileage or handling, as the worst rear is still better then almost any normal front bike tire.:)

Went to Honda dealer to mount the BT45 (rear tire) on the front. What a hassle that was. You'd have thought I asked for his first born child.

I don't know why dealers do that. I put the BT45 on my Trike about 9,000 miles ago. Handles great and wear is minimal.

I try to stay away from Honda and Harley dealers. Labor costs are high. Harley is the worst. If you have a good independent tech in your area it may be the way to go.

Yes, concur on all points. I surely would not have been there if I had not received a $50 coupon in the mail. Couldn't let that pass, but should have, it just wasn't worth the hassle.

As a long time Darksider.
Most bike shops will do it but advise you its not a good idea.
Some have made me sign a waiver of non liability.
Its all hogwash.
Basically just a liability issue with some of these guys.
Afraid if you do crash and burn they will be sued.

Ive crashed before but haven't burned yet.

Can Am's run car tires (flat) on front? Why not a GW Trike? Trikes don't corner line a two-wheeler. I think a car tire is a great idea. After all, we don't "lean" into curves, we drive around them. Hear tell Avon is thinking about making a flat tire for the GW. I will be first in line.

can you run a car tire on front of goldwing trike

Your question made me think a bit so I looked around and it was right here all along.
I didn't call but I cant see why they could not do this for anyones 1800 regardless of kit used.

A bit pricy though but a great way to do it.
Might not be a car tire shown but if its a 180 bike tire any car tire of the right size could be used Id imagine.

I have "heard" that AVON is toying with the idea of a car tire for the trike. Why not? You don't ride a trike the way you do a two wheeler... you drive it much like a four wheeler. CAN AM has car tires on the front of their trike. Albeit, two. I'm sure gonna try the car tire if AVON does produce one.

</div>I new to triking but my friend are using a sportbike Rear tire on the trike, A Michelin Pilot Active rear , but turn Backward getting 20,000 mile with them. The same size as the tire you use now,. Just got my 2008 Goldwing trike as of 10-04-2013 with a Hannigan kits and love it.

Shinko has come out with a tires they are calling the 240 or 270 Classic. They have the look of old style tires with what looks like a flatter profile than most cycle tires. Has anyone tried one of these?

One of the 1st things I bought when I decided to trike my 2012 was the MPA tire, I have it setting in the basement for when the stock front tire wears out.
