I ride in winter, heated liner and gloves, but used to stop at 35 deg because of black ice. I will still wait on a god rain to wash salt off.
Wondering what fellow snow bound trikers do when the white stuff flies. With my two wheeler, I always waited till the snow melted and a good rain washed the salt away here in northeastern Illinois (not a fair weather/temperature rider). My garage is unheated, no hose bib for freshwater washing. I feel with three wheels, I can ride longer, but, road salt is not good for many metals.
Any ideas?

If there's salt on the road I do not get the motorcycles out. I wait for a good rain to wash off the road, first.

If you ever get caught while salt isn't washed away, I would do a wet chammy hand wash down, probably twice and a new wax coat. Dont for get underside and maybe a hose spray inside wheel fenders. Those dusters that reach and flex everywhere a possibility.

Cold doesn't bother me, but once the salt and calcium chloride hits the streets I'm done until some good cleansing spring rains. I've heard the stories of folks who thought it was safe only to learn they pitted their aluminum.

Since this will be my first trike Winter' I'll guess as long as there isn't any snow or ice, I'll ride; but frequent washings will be in order.
What's 'snow'?
Sparky, im from Zion.. moved south 6 yrs ago to get away from all that.. good luck
Blondie Gal, it's the stuff I moved from Temple, Tx to Chicago for.
5 years in paradise(Temple) was enough. I need the 4 seasons. pepper
I ride all winter. I put on a brunch ride for my HOG chapter every Sunday - weather permitting - meaning no snow on the road. If roads are dry -we ride.
Coldest we've ridden was 16*. If you dress for it, it's very pleasurable.
What I've been doing for the last 10 years is spray the wheels and unside of the bike with S100 CORROSION PROTECTANT. Then each April I hose it all off = clean and sparkly bike.
Can't see buying a $34,000 bike and have to store it 5 to 6 months of the year.
I'm not a boat owner.
Yep, got one! It IS a TRIKE, when you think about it!!

Late reply: have not rode in Munising. Last year was my first time with a sled. Left Detroit, (trailered) sled to Chicago, drove up to Eagle River Wi. Left from there to Copper Harbor. Six day trip! What a ride! Took a day and a half to adjust handlebars, and learn how to ride, but once I got it figured out, I had a blast! This year I hope to ride near our property in Mio and get up to Paradise with new sled friends I met this summer. My buddy from Chicago is an extremely competitive person. I can't keep up with him and his riding buddies.
Need a little slower pace. Hope to get to Munising sometime though.
Great trails in the Munising area . I am originally a Yooper, really miss Korpuu (aka Trenary Toast) & Pasties, though from school age on I grew up in Minnesota. Went back in 1977 and until 1986 I DJ'ed at WQXO in Munising. There were some times when you would see 4 or 5 4X4 trucks in the Kimberly Clark Forest Products Division parkinig lot, and 75 snow machines. You get all 4 seasons in the UP- Winter, June, July & August.
As for winter riding, when living in Minnesota I would ride until the salt went down, and put away the nice bike until after the last snow and a few rains washed away the salt dust. No riding until all the white residue got washed from the roads.
