I ordered a oil temp gauge for my 2011 back in September. Called the other day to see what the status was on it and was told it is due to be released on Oct 15. I thought usually only movies or prisoners had release dates.

Maybe they want more ransom money for it?
Well when I got the oil temp gauge for my 2011 it took a while for me to get it too. It took about a month or so if I remember right.

Wow, that sounds ridiculous. Seems that this would be a part that they kept in stock at dealers.
Are you writing about the in fairing temp gauge or the oil dip stick with temp gauge? Had my in fairing temp gauge in one week back at end of August, but the dip stick temp gauge took about a month when ordered in early July. I know they had issues with the dip stick temp gauge retaining moisture, so heard they were only shipping new version. Still have the problem. My dip stick temp gauge will fog up after riding in heavy rain or after washing. I am now cautious when washing not to run direct spray on to the gauge.
There's a difference between the regular dip stick gauge and the trike gauge. Most dealers will stock one and not the other. When I ordered mine several weeks ago, I found out the dealer I got it from had never had one in stock before.

The "release date" may be the date the container ship (from China) docks. When there was a dock strike last year (Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach) my new "special order" fuel gauge delivery date was delayed, then delayed again. I finally cancelled the "special order" and found one in a shelf locally in Pennsylvania.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the Oil Level and Temperature gauge for the one approved for the trike vs. the other touring models. I kept the one off my 2011 Street Glide and have been using it own my 2014 trike. It seems to be accurate. Really surprised to discover they are different.
I was told the dip stick although still swivels to allow entry, has a different sensor strip to account for trike being level not on Jiffy stand. If you have compared using the original dip stick to know where the oil is at, and you know the slight difference, there should be no problem. Your risk would be level of oil not perfect, but hey I run just a tad lower than full anyway to eliminate air cleaner blow by.
Well that makes sense...measured full when I took delivery and full after the 1k. Thanks.
