Can you say GPS
?
Any of you good folks out there install a compass on your Trike. What did you buy, how did you mount it, and what did it cost, and where can I get it? Always wondered why that isn't built in to a motorcycle.
Can you say GPS

GPS, even a low price one will help you out.
I agree with the others, a GPS is the best and most accurate.

The last time i used a compass was in 65, And it never worked right,
No matter which way i turned the arrow always pointed in the same direction..

+1 for GPS! If you have an audio system chances are the magnets on the speakers will affect the compass...
I tried inexpensive surface-mount compass and will not work. Too much metals and magnet interference.
Other posters are correct. Your smart phone or GPS is only way to go. Dang...
Not so creative with these signatures. Ride 'em if ya got 'em...
Magnetic compasses in aircraft have to re-calibrated when the instrument panel and avionics (radios) are turned on. +1 for GPS or Smart phone GPS.
"Common sense the unfair advantage"
I echo your thoughts on mounting a GPS. I have the factory Nav system, but you can't do much with it when you're moving other than follow directions and zoom in or out. I'm finding a voice activated Garmin as an interesting addition, as well as utilizing the lane assist feature. At about a hundred bucks for a factory rebuilt (with full warranty) they represent great value and are easier to use than the on board Nav system. It's one of the best $100.00 I've spent on an option - also have one in each family vehicle - now no one ever gets lost and always have an accurate ETA!
Attached pic is an inexpensive Brookstone compass with suction cups and adjustable base. You can also see part of the TomTom GPS case on right side of pic.

To tell the truth, I can't see the little tiny compass icon on my GPS while riding, so what good is it?
More than once, the GPS has said "turn left" or "turn right" and a glance at the old fashioned compass has confirmed my feeling that we would be headed into a nearby cow pasture.
If you put all your faith in the GPS, you'll sooner or later get totally lost.
(And real men don't stop and ask for directions! )
Works day or night and not concerned with magnetic influence of speakers or metal...
some assembly required!
I keep my Garmin on the Trike as a backup in case of rain!
