I've been using heel toe shifters on Harley's for years so it was natural for me to have one on my Wing. I used the factory pegs and toe shift for several months, just wanted foot boards and heel toe shifter since that what I've been used to using.

I had a heal-toe shifter on a 1200 and a 1500. I like them, the trike I'm having built will have one on it. My bride has a Yamaha V-Star 1100. It came with the heal-toe shifter. She's not confident in it yet. She still uses the toe to do both up and down shifting. To each his own!

I guess it might depend on what you're used to. I learned to ride with a trike (Suzuki C-50) that had a heel-toe shifter. I wouldn't want to go without. But whatever works for you! Enjoy riding!

The heel shifter is one of the first I pull off. I feel it restricts my movement. I install a Harley spacer to keep it looking clean. Take the removed shifter and put in my tour-pac. Can't tell you the number of times I've lost a shifter or a friend has.

If I go back to the stock shifter will I have to remove the floorboards?

I too am having difficulty getting used to the heel-toe shifter. I'm going to master it one way or another. I do like the floorboards.

It saves your boot tips . I had it on my 80 Wing. I sort of like it. Works best with small shoe size mine is an 8 1/2

I recently installed the Kury heel toe shifter on my 2012 Wing. The Wing has a CSC Viper Kit on it with Aquashields.
The shifter went on pretty easy. I didn't have to remove anything and there were several inches of clearance above the Aquashields to the floorboards.
I've had heel toe shifters on a couple of other Wings and I always liked them. Especially the floorboards.
Which trike kit do you have?

When I got my 2005 Champion, it had heel toe and Kury floorboards. I liked the look so gave it a try for a couple weeks and couldn't get used to it. Missed shifts and always looking down to find my feet and the shifter. Took shifter and floorboards off and used the stock shifter and a Showchrome peg extension that lowered the foot pegs and extended them forward for a more cruiser-like stance. I like this set-up a lot.

It's been a few months since I ditched my setup. There may be a problem with getting your toe under the shifter with the floorboard, if I remember correctly. The shifter is not adjustable, although these guys make a gizmo that allows you to adjust the shifter..if you really want to keep the boards, then maybe this might help: http://www.dhsracing.com/GL-1800.htm

I clicked on your link but get a message; "Web page in not available".

I'd be interested to see what they have.

Hmmm.. I clicked on the link I posted and it came up. Maybe Google DHS racing and see if that gets you there--They have a few products and the shift linkage is down the page a bit.

I have a feeling that I wouldn't be able to use this as I have Roadsmith's 'Comfort Controls' installed which already replaces the stock shifter.

I'd never used an H/T shifter until I got my trike four months ago. It took a little getting used to and I did add the extension to gain a little more room for my size 12's. 11,000 miles later, I'm pretty much a fan!<img src="images/smilies/smiley-score010.gif" border="0" alt="" title="10" class="inlineimg" />
