AU govt gone mad to presumably crack down on bikies

in a scheme that we are being told is to crack down on outlaw MC's (gangs) we have been hit with new laws almost every day. it is now illegal for any people regardless of intent or nature to meet in any group of more than 2 people. even if that meeting is law abiding. anyone riding a motorcycle is being pulled over and interrogated at length, even sports bike riders. but the brunt of it is aimed at harley riders even though gangs make up only a very small percentage of riders, and the fact lots of rides do good things like raising money for charity, sick kids etc.

all charity rides are now illegal. in fact even car pooling (sharing your car to work and back is illegal, as is riding the bus. the magistrates here have refused to hear cases against bikies because they feel they cant give a fair rulling under the new law, and the preasure put on them to crack down on bikies. there was even a memo which was leaked to the media from the top of the police to all officers saying if they werent prepared to act on bogus warrants they would be sacked... our country is going mad

This sounds as though it would be illegal with such restrictions. Do you have a link to any of the information being spread? Any direct links with information about this would be the best way to get this "out there" and seen. Plus, personally, I'd love to be able to read the information from the sources as well as others I'm sure.

Are there elections coming up? Seems that motorcyclists can be fair game for the political types because riders are a very small minority of the population, the 1%ers (I believe you call them Bikies)even less. Those in office can get these laws passed then point to them an say "See what I am doing to protect you from this menace to society. I am keeping you safe." without a threat to their voting base. Makes them look like they are doing something without actually doing something except getting on the news by messing with a relatively small group. All the more reason why everyone that rides should be a member of a Motorcycle Rights Organization, preferrably on both the local and national level.

Are you sure this isn't a hoax? I can understand the widespread sentiment against motorcycles and rowdy motorcycle riders, but I find it difficult to believe that any government would outlaw car pooling and riding a bus. Is this a Holloween prank?

I chalked this up the the "Law Of Unintended Cosequences" - sometimes laws can be written badly or so vaguely the results are much different than wanted. I remember some years ago there was anti-gang laws passed that outlawed wearing the same colors in a group. Police rounded up a group of nefarious types all wearing red, with a logo on the back. Turned out to be POLKofA - a polka dance club.
They also gave warnings to some American Legion members - even wearing the Legion hats at the Legion club during meetings was illegal under the law. Then the LEO's gave themselves up, because the way the law was written they were wearing gang colors by putting on police uniforms. The city soon recinded that law.

:Shrug:Is this a result of nuts like the ones that yank their license plates and tear around cities on their crotch rockets and four wheelers, terrorizing citizens, breaking traffic laws and beating up folks, smashing windows in SUV's etc. thats been happening stateside?

People equate these clowns with the rest of the motorcycling population whether they are wearing colors or not.
It used to be that the 1% clubs would put a stop to them in order to get the heat off their backsides.

Keepinon, that is some of the new laws. they change every day, but take note the if you read it it states its objective is to break down vicious lawless associations.. but section 3 ..DEFINITIONS..

Definitions 24 In this Act— 25 association means any of the following— 26 (a) a corporation; 27 (b) an unincorporated association; 28
Page 4
4
Vicious Lawless Association Disestablishment Bill 2013 [s 4]
(c) a club or league; 1
(d) any other group of 3 or more persons by whatever name 2 called, whether associated formally or informally and 3 whether the group is legal or illegal. 4

so letter D clearly states even a legal group of 3 is illegal. because it is an association... very silly stuff,

absolutely sir pcombe. and no one is safe. its even more noticeable now after my message about how i found America. i guess we are suckers for anything. i know there is a 1% er problrm at the moment, i fear the consequences after when every day people wake up to the fact they have no rights left
