So the home health care therapist came this morning ... she was there to evaluate and work with mom on her range of motion on her finger and her back (from surgery) as well as maybe help with vertigo. The nurse pulled me aside and said if you need to "getaway" for a bit, we'll be two hours minimum.
I dressed quick in warmer clothes and Kira and I took off on the trike. We did about 80 miles. Kind of an overcast day and high forties for the temp.
I am totally impressed with the Dunlop American Elite Touring I put on the front. It seems to be a more comfortable ride. Maybe softer sidewall or just because I'm running 36# instead of the 42# in the Avon AV-91.
Felt good to be back on her again. When we got home, I put the new hitch covers on the trike. I stopped and got a 2" long bolt, SS, to go through the cover and the hitch, just so it wouldn't rattle out.
I installed a new Dunlop American Elite MT90B16 front tire on my 2016 TGU about a month ago. I, like others, was not impressed with the Avon front tire I put on the TGU about 2 years ago. It caused a noticeable shake and vibration when I got over 70 and kept getting worse the faster I went. That started about 1000 miles or so after I installed it. I finally got tired of it and ordered the Dunlop after reading several good reviews.
The new Dunlop is much more pleasant. It handles good and is a much "smoother" ride. I told the tire installer to not balance the new tire. I have chrome rims and have used dyna beads for years. I installed 2 OZ of Dyna Beads through the valve stem (took about 2 minutes) and it is smooth and quiet all the way up to 95MPH. BTW, 95 is all the top end I can get on my TGU, and most of that comes from 5th gear.
However, I don't really care about top end. The trike, with Power Vision and Target Tune tuning runs great. I very seldom get over 70 unless passing on the interstate. 90% of my riding is county roads and non interstate highways. I am very pleased with the new Dunlop and I am running 38 for tire pressure.
BTW, the shake from the Avon was not a violent shake. but it was very noticeable and caused some concern.
