I kept saying that I'm not putting another dime into this trike since I hate riding it, but I softened up my position a little. It's silly to have something this expensive just sitting in the garage.

I ordered the DK Customs Convertible Comfort Lift today. I'm really hoping that it makes a noticeable difference. *Fingers Crossed*
There will be an improvement, both in steering ease and the stock shocks will absorb the bumps better. They will not make the stock shocks good shocks, but there will be an improvement.

By comparison, my FJR1300 is all day comfortable (solo), and the suspension just soaks up the bumps.

The Tri Glide is a 2014 with stock suspension. 50lbs in the air shocks, 36 psi in the front tire, and 22 psi in the rear tires. I have changed the bars to Khrome Werks 2+2 narrow sweepers. I have changed the seat to the Mustang Deluxe Touring Seat.

I have seen the great reviews for the lift with the 14 inch shocks. I just don't want to put another $1,000 into this trike and "hope" that I'll be comfortable riding it after that.
    Yikes!

I imagine that must be frustrating beyond words.

A good pair of shocks, like the Trike Series Shocks™ would greatly smooth out the bumps, but I understand not wanting to spend that money. PLUS, I do not believe they would fix the pain in the shoulders and upper back.

I used to get a pain in my upper back/shoulders. I fixed it with a variety of (less expensive than the shocks) items.

    1. Handlebar grips at the correct position...sounds like you are close there.

    2. Back rest. This is huge for me. Without the back rest, even with good shocks and handlebar grips right, I still get pain in the upper back and shoulders.

    3. An airhawk. I used to take apart the seats and recut the foam, adding memory foam (like what Mean City Cycles does), then I discovered the Airhawk. It make a BIG difference for my butt and hips.

    4. Floorboard Extensions, these allow me to have a larger variety of foot positions, and is a big contributor to Less hip pain.

    5. Highway pegs with heel rests. This gives me even more foot positions, including when my feet are primarily on the floorboards and just the toes are on the heel rests.

    6. Playing around with the PSI in the stock shocks. Harley's suggested PSI never worked for us. Mary and I have over 50k miles riding with the stock air shocks on a Tri Glide. On a trip we are anywhere from 450-500 lbs weight. After a lot of experimentation, we found that between 19-29 psi worked best for us. That does not mean it will for you...different road conditions, etc. will make it valuable for you to play around with the PSI.

I hope the above was of some help, and Importantly, that you're able to get your TG dialed in so that it is a joy to ride, rather than torture!

That's what I was thinking too.

Thanks a lot for the tips. I was thinking about the floorboard extensions, but I'm not sure they would help. I tried moving my feet out where they were half off of the floorboards and it didn't seem to make any difference. I already have highway pegs too, but rarely use them. I don't like having my legs stretched out in front of me when I'm riding. I prefer to have my feet back as far back as possible. I've even thought about some sort of extension or footpeg that was rear of the floorboards.

We'll start with the lift kit and go from there.

    Thanks!

Pain in arms , shoulders & back cured for me with the HD "pull back " or "reach" bars.(used to call them one or the other) . Don't see the lift helping the ride that much but the ProAction 14" shocks will get the job done. I had the 13" on my 2016 & it was 500% better than stock. Recently got a 2020 & the 14" PA will be installed next week along with PA's front suspension also.

Yeah, I agree, always best to do one thing at a time so that you know. Doing 2 or 3 things at a time and then it is better...hard to know which one was responsible for the improvement.

You did not mention if you have a backrest?

It may be a surprise, but I think the Comfort Lift will smooth things out a bit, and make steering a bit easier...it will also change your perspective (and angle) when looking over or thru the windshield, but I would be pleasantly surprised if it got rid of the shoulder and back pain...but it might if it is coming from steering effort.

Just so you can be doing a little research, ahead of time, my next backrest for the TG will probably be the Grasshopper brand. It is inexpensive, and I have one on my Softail and it is really comfortable for me.

Picked up the 17 TG from the shop after having them install a Pro Action Fork Kit with seals, bushings and oil.

Also had them install a new Avon Chrome front tire.

It made a big difference smoothing out the bumps for the hands and arms but also tightened things up making it more responsive.

I got 22000 out of the last Avon tire and this one is supposed to be better.

Also picked up oil to change all three holes and the dealer is starting to be disappointing since be acquired by new owners that own 5 dealerships in Indiana.

They decide that the gallon jugs wasn't selling well enough keep in stock so had to buy 4 quarts costing a $1.50 more than the gallon would have cost.

Also did not have redline in stock which is what I put in the transmission,

So now between this oil change and next I will be looking for different oils for my TG that I won't have to go to the dealer for.

Since I do most service myself its no big deal but since I change all my fluid 3-4 times a year $1.50 adds on my end as an expense while they are making it on everyone the buys oil in 5 dealerships. They now have 1 less.

With the improvement in the Front end the 14" Pro Actions shocks from DK Custom are for sure on the list for next year.

I usually check Summit Racing, Amazon and ebay for Redline engine oil and Trans fluid...usually one one of those three have a pretty good deal going, I buy by the case of 12.

I've been using the Syn3 in the primary for a few years now.

I have been looking at flag mounts for the trike. While sorting through the mix, there was one that attached to the existing antenna. While at wally world, I saw a flag that mounts to the window. It seemed sturdy so I purchased it and mounted it on the antenna. I poked two holes in the sleeve to put ty-wraps through to hold it tighter to the antenna. A couple of hundred miles today and it looks like it did when I mounted it. I will be purchasing another for the other side.

Installed my DK Customs Convertible Comfort Lift over the weekend. Thanks for getting it to me so quickly!

I haven't had time to really test it out yet, but I did ride it to work this morning. So far I believe that the bumps in the road aren't as sharp as before. The real test will come when I can get my wife on the back.

[QUOTE=Halfnormal;762891]I have been looking at flag mounts for the trike.

    @ctdair;

Thanks for the link. This was a quick add for flag day while I try and settle on a permanent solution like the ones you suggested. I am not sure how the antennas will fair in the long run with a flag mounted to them.

Finally got the security system siren installed, also got my new Ciro Mirror Mount "ball" installed. Removed the air lines from the OEM shocks, I can always put them back on if I trade the FBG ... not likely. Also did a bunch of "cleanup" on the wiring. The mighty mites plug in needed to be tied up a tad. The PO had done a relay system to power the trailer. It's a well made system, but, the tying up of wires was always something that I just wanted to clean up. Since the seat was off, and the new pup was playing, so finished that up.

No pics of the siren installed ... just slides into a pocket under the left side cover.

Ciro mirror ball mount. It bolts into the mirror hole under mirror, can be mounted on either side. I used a 1/4" x 20 SS bolt with SS washers and a SS nylock Nut since my mirrors are mounted on the windshield trim. I will either put the GPS (Zumo) or the phone there. The other will be mounted on the Dash mount.

Not a great pic, but, there's not much to it ... you can see the ball just over the right controls.

Well I didn't do anything 'to' my Tri-Glide but I did do this 'for' it . . . totally cleaned out the garage in preparation for the installation of my Race Deck flooring tiles which are supposed to be delivered tomorrow. What a monumental f***ing job it was to move everything out but it's done and ready. Hope the install of the flooring isn't too much of a chore.

Had an allergy doc appointment today, or at least I thought I did, so Mom got to watch and take care of Kira .. LOL .. she had a ball, Kira, not Mom ... LOL ... Kira ran her a little ragged.

Anyway, When I got home, I set up the dog run and let Kira watch me while I played with the mirror mount. I added a couple or steel spacers and gained some height so it doesn't interfere with my right side hand controls. Also got some better pics. I think this is gonna be the answer to my external phone mount issue, but, not sure I'm there yet. I also have a mount in the tour pak that holds the phone and does actually charge it, so I'm not sure I need the external, sure would be nice to have the controls right at my finger tips for the audio books, plus lbeing able to add fill ups and other things to the phone as needed.

Pic from rider seat, it does not interfere with the rear mirror view:
