Completed the 1,000 mile service on my 2020 TG using Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w/50 synthetic oil in the motor and Harley's new Heavy Synthetic Gear Oil in the primary and tranny . . . and yes I did use the new larger M8 filter.
Day before that I installed my new Freedom 8" touring style windshield and went for a 125 mile ride. Wow what a difference - it must be at least twice as thick as the oem shield and it's crystal clear and I love the wider touring style. A great choice for sure.
My rears looked brand new ... but, the born date was 1511, which means my tires are about 9 years old on a 2014, My front at 20k was getting a little thin, so just gonna do new feets all around ... my local indy shop is gonna remove all the weights, mount the tires and install Ride On in all three. All I will need to do is torque the rears after 50 and 100 miles. Since I bought the front and Ride On from them they are doing the installs for free.
Jerry, could you post a pic of new shield?? Went to their web site But, didn't see the wide. I do have the Reaper from LRS but would like to see yours. My service is on the 16th & going to let dealer install the 14" shocks & the front suspension from ProAction also. Fred (Fearless) offered to come over from Pa & help me,but I have about 400 free money, & thought with the custom paint we have, if it got chipped or anything, it would be on their dime not mine.

I have read a bunch of articles about tire life and bad things as time goes by, especially when my buddy (a Good Year Sales manager at the only Good Year store in town) told me that it is not so much weather checking as chemical break down that facilitates the weather checking. He showed me a tire that has never been mounted, been in their store front for 14 years that has a born date the is 16 years ago. Half of the tread is splitting between the treads, inline with the tire, not across it. interesting stuff. The tread was not separating, just splitting. Anyway, to be safe I just changed the rears too

I'm putting the Cobra Trike Tire on the Front and the Goodyear Comfort Treads on the rear. I've been watching reviews on both of these with intent to replace this spring ... then Covid ... so today is the day ... trike goes in at 9am ...
I've read many reviews of the trike tire and the whole design to me just makes sense. The review of the Comfort treads by both Kevin and Fred are what got me interested in them. Kevin does tons of miles (maybe not as many now that he has the toy hauler ... I'm so jealous) and I value his reviews of products. Specifically his comments about the comfort and lack of hydroplaning. If you ride on any long trips, eventually you will get caught in the rain. I've changed many a pair of shorts because of hydroplaning. Not as big an issue on the trike, but, still concerning.
Fred is probably right that any good quality tire will work well on the rears, but, since I had two someone's who's opinion I value, thought I'd go with that tire. Fred and Kevin both have the comfort treads on their trikes (Kevin may not have them on his 19 yet). I'm guessing any quality car tire will get you between 40k and 60k type mileage.
I got a good deal on the rears (in my opinion) from a car tire place the indy motorcycle shop sent me to (turns out the sales manager there is a bowling buddy). I paid like $120 a tire (includes all taxes and fees) The indy shop uses the car tire guy (sells almost any tire) for his supplier when he can and since I bought them there, he's mounting them for free. The two businesses may have reciprocal agreements, which is good. He's also mounting the trike tire free since I bought it from him. I paid $195 all taxes and fees. He's removing all the weights and putting Ride On in all the tires for just the cost of the ride on and $20. I've done the Ride On on a couple Gold Wings and loved the ride, hated getting on the ground and squeezing the bottles until I got the right amount in there. They can do it while the tires are off the trike ... LOL ... so this is a win win for me. I'll give the tech a $20 tip, always do, and that's not included in the listed costs.
Sorry for the correction but I'm running Viva 3's made in USA. RATED car and mini van. They are quiet, stable in corners, and work really well in rain wet roads. The ride is very nice solid cornering I could not be happier ride safe Fred
P.s. viva3's were my cost was 108 mounting and balance for both including road tax and sales tax

Did you have WalMart mount them? I had a reputable indy auto tire shop mount the ComforTreds on my 2018 after I'd had it a few months and they put some fairly deep gouges along the outside edge of my wheels. To their credit they sent them to a wheel repair shop which buffed / polished them and did a great job but I don't want to go through that again. Thinking if I do change to the Goodyears I'll see if my Harley dealer will mount them as they have more experience and guarantee me they won't gouge or scratch my wheels.
Now realize I knew all the oil techs. in the shop and yes they mounted them under the threat of death from me and the Automotive manager as well. These are great tires at least I think so built for a lot more weight than they will ever see on a Trike. Quiet, stable and great in rain been caught twice on very wet roads. And they are made in the USA. And priced reasonable as well. I believe any good tire will work especially with Pro Action Shocks these tires work for us. They had to order in the 205X70RX15 for me but only took a few days. Ride safe Fred
P.S. forgot to mention about the improved handling the front end seems very planted handles better than ever.

The new tire machines never touch the front of the wheels they call them no touch for a reason nylon tools. the machines they only secure from the back with padded jaws there as well. At least here in Pennsylvania can't speak for Florida, The number of Mag. wheels out there today you would think most places would have newer machines that won't mark up wheels. travel safe Fred

Hey Bill. I know you said 'never mind' but I'm posting a couple pics for those who may not be familiar with Freedom shields. Best out there imo.
