George Stevens, owner (30+ years) of the Cleveland St location, passed away about seven years or so ago. His family took over and moved it to a new building and location on Chester Road in Avon. In 2019, the dealership was sold to the same person who owns Adventure, Rubber City, Rock and Roll City, and Mad River dealerships. Almost one year to the day, amidst this Covid pandemic, it was announced that Lake Erie H-D would close on 2 April 2020. End of the Stevens legacy.
I now take all my work or parts requests to Stinger H-D in Medina.

I put Gorilla Tape on the passenger backrest where Kira put tiny little holes in it with her teeth.
I'm thinking of purchasing another backrest, eBay has lots that have tears, and having it cut down level with the tour pak. Mary, Kevins wife did that for her comfort. It looks pretty good and I don't think Kira could reach it.
I purchased a road sofa cover to put on mine, that way if I ever trade it, I could put the OEM one back on.
Took Kira for a ride of about 60 miles. On the way home we stopped at one of our local parks that is pet friendly. Just so happens it's the one we met Kevin and Mary in. There is a picnic table in the shade of some pretty big trees that I sat at, let her play and read for about an hour.
Between the ride and the playing, Kira was getting tired so we headed home. Shortly after leaving the park, I noticed a "rattle/clunking" coming from the front of the trike. I've heard it before intermittently, but, this was worse and constant. My first thought was the front engine mount coming loose, so I pulled into a parking lots to look. Nope, it was tight, at least by my grabbing it and shaking the trike.
Checked everything I could think of and finally decided to head home, about a mile and get Kira out of the sun while I looked for the issue. When I got home I gave Kira water, and put her in her dog run in the shade.
Started grabbing things and trying to make the rattle. When I got to the Steering Damper, it moved a lot and "rattled". When I tried to tighten the nut that holds it on, it was tight. Got out the trusty shop manual ....
If you look at the drawing, #2 was the problem. The nylon washer had worn through and was no longer taking up the slack. I removed it and went to the hardware store, found one and installed it. Took Kira out with me. again for a road test. Back to being rattle free ... well, as free as any Harley can be ... which in the Fat Bottom Girls case, pretty quiet.
Fixed

2019 Tri-Glide.......
I think it's been wearing for awhile ... at an idle, I could hear sometimes a "ticking" and sometimes a "rattle" ... yesterday it became a small "clunk" ... the nylon washer actually wore through and was no longer a complete circle ... I highly recommend folks check the steering damper for tightness once in awhile. Not sure why they (HD) opted for a nylon spacer, but, guessing a metal one would rub away the aluminum the mount and damper are made of.
Was out doing some errands while Kira was at the "Salon", and stopped to pick up or order the HD correct nylon washer for the steering damper. Wow .... HD is proud of those babies. I picked up 2 for $0.30 each at a hardware store. The one I ordered from HD was $14.53. I had to order it, just to see if or how it was different ...
Yea... But the one's you got from the hardware store came in a loose pile and the clerk put them in a plain brown paper bag for you.....The one from Harley comes Individually Wrapped in a plastic bag sealed and bar coded ...Emblazoned with the Harley Logo......
The bag is worth more than the contents......

After the Az gathering, we went by DK Customs, to have the axle retainer kit installed on the way back to Ohio.
DK normally does not do installations, they amount to around less than 1% of the business. But I was lucky as this
was a bit of a slow time & they wanted to video the installation, for future posting on their site. I did not have an
Issue as yet,but saw a picture of Kevin's trike axle bearing wear a year or so ago at 30 some thousand miles.
We had 46,000 on our 16 & fully intend to do more on the 2020.
This is my last Trike due to age & we still average a lot of miles so I looked at "preventive" maintenance. Devon
(the D in DK) is an amazing innovator & a great person who did a great job installing & cleaned up some loose metal filings
& chips left by the factory, that were attached around the magnectic brake sensors. Above & Beyond !!!
Also they installed an EBS system to video also. That is something I had thought about more than once over the years,
but never did. Devon also did an amazing job of hiding that, so the Mothership does not see it.
Many Thanks to DK customs. O yeah, Janiene was so impressed by Devons politeness & extra care, she wants to adopt him.
THANKS DK
